I have learned the first verse of Ievan Polkka and my tongue feels so sore
How the fuck do the finns live day-to-day Do they have some inhuman tongue genetics in order to be able to handle their tongue-twister language every day
how is "voi vittu" "oh fuck" and google translate tells me "voi" is "butter" what trickery is this, what arcane spells am i conjuring, what esoteric knowledge has been instilled upon the finns
Dylan James
the english one seems more tiresome to me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Aiden Howard
>tfw bull from the city of pori and no difficulties

>I struggle to sing it. You're weak. I don't and I'm a faggot from Helsinki.

Ian King

Gavin Morris
voi is butter voi is also "oh"
Landon Parker
and voi is also kind of "to be able to"
Dominic Davis
"Vittu" comes from Swedish "Fitta". It means "cunt". But I think Finns use it like English "fuck".
"Voi" does mean butter but that's another word than the one you see here. In this context "voi" is an interjection that means "oh". Thus voi vittu becomes "oh fuck" because it is literally "oh fuck". Nothing weird at all.
Alexander Sanders
what is pic related, how is pic related explain this, finland voi voi "oh, butter" or is it "butter, oh" or "oh, oh" or "butter, butter"
>voi voi "oh, butter" >or is it "butter, oh" >or "oh, oh" >or "butter, butter" Whichever you want. But if someone said it out loud you would be able to twll.
Oliver Stewart
voi voi is more of a "stop whining" statement
Isaiah Myers

How would you laugh in Finnish? Not a "funny joke" laugh but a "you are a sad person" laugh
Ayden Cox

very playful indeed; you're one of those languages where you can just fucking merge everything at your will you scandinavian fucks love doing it so much that you get literary rape-babies like this:
Lentokonesuihkuturbiiniapumekaanikkoaliupseerioppilastuttamattomuudellansakaankohan do you think this is ok? do you?!
Connor Collins
kuu = moon -si = 2nd person singular possessive suffix kuusi = number six or a spruce palaa = to burn palaa = 3rd person singular of palata, to return me too
ah, also palaa = singular partitive of pala, a piece
Jeremiah Robinson
kind of wish i could do that with my language man it'd be so cool to be able to just merge everything in one big word-sentence i see, wish i didnt, but i do
My favourite thing about finnish language is that is a enormous amount of onomatopoetic words. Actually Finnish language lets you invent new onomatoppetic words. Like for sounds you have heard and have no word for them.
Hudson Martin
invent new onomatopoetic words? what do you mean?
Juan Barnes
