Are tradies seen as subhuman in third and second world countries?

in the west, tradies are pretty privileged. they make decent wages. but I've heard for example rich Indian and Chinese immigrants are disrespectful toward tradies because in their home country only the bottom rung of society does that kind of work. Is that true?

Here the are called 'pomen' from English 'foreman'. Respect for pomen have increased over time as younger people stopped learning to fix and build things.

Who gives a shit, you will still earn more than a thirdie with a masters in CS, firsties dont suffer

bump please answer

supply and demand

tradie here, hardcore tradie in my 20ies (welder and electrician but also did a whole lot of construction work, machining, tool fitting, metalwork of all sorts)
rich businessmen want me to marry their daughters
i have a list as exclusive as some fancy restaurant, people have to wait for MONTHS to see me and they make jokes that it is easier for them to find a surgeon then it is to get to me
my phone is ringing non stop, 24/7 and i keep raising my prices and turning down 90% of the calls but its still not stopping

we lost all young skilled workers here
everyone is a lawyer, everyone finished economics degree, and everyone is unemployed, underemployed or a perma minwage office drone
no one knows how to fix cars, no one but me
no one knows how to expand a house or an apartment
no one knows how to construct a shed
no one knows how to install cameras, fire alarms, cable tv
no one knows how to make a terrace, security/fire (metal) doors, install elevators, metal stairs
no one fucking knows how to build a garage in my two million fucking people area except me, so literally all of them have to call me to build them a garage for their car because everyone under 60 year old is an unemployable lawyer/artist/economist and doesnt know how to build a garage

so idk i feel like something of an aristocrat in society because i make more money than everyone i meet who isnt a politician

tradies have good wages but are subhuman nonetheless

thanks for the perspective. I guess it's not the same in all less developed countries, but serbia is already semi western and faces the same demographic challenges that western cunts do

you don't have to be intelligent or industrious to be a codemonkey

yeah, this new demographics issues will make a young tradie the new 1%
i have construction companies offering me cars, double the minimum wage in legal payments and then 2 times that in pure cash pay (which is unreported, untaxed etc) apartments etc etc

i had a regional boss of one large (10.000 employees) german construction company here in belgrade tell me, 'every single fucking year we are losing extremely skilled and experienced workers that we absolutely can not replace anywhere anymore, we are looking in 15 countries but there are simply not enough young people trained for the jobs'

i was offered a 7k$/month job if i moved and he told me by the time i am 30 i would be making 11k$/month in his company because they need people to oversee/lead projects but i refuse having to relocate nonstop, having to travel, having to live in undeveloped regions and being on site for 10+ hours a day so i only go from time to time with his company and never sign any papers, just a temp worker paid in cash until i get the job done and go home

People tend to think tradies are stupid, your defenitly better off being a tradie then getting an arts degree, but besides that all the other faculties tend to have more benefits for earnings potential in the long run

nah
white collar and office drones are getting replaced by computer algorithms
meanwhile have fun finding someone who can do underwater welding and pipe fitting younger than 50 years old for oil companies

in just 10 or 20 years, clean hands = locked into minwage

>underwater welding
Enjoy getting delta p'd

Yeah I guess that's the side effect of everyone being told to go to college and that trades are for stupid people. Tradesmen aren't THAT demanded here though, as far as I can tell. Plus, we have a fuckton of immigrants who could potentially fill those roles. I also don't understand how American tradies make good money when there's tons of Pacos and Juans who will work for low wages. Also, you obviously know better than me, but the Germany thing seems like a good opportunity to become ever richer. But I guess you're well off enough already assuming you're not larping like some other user accused you of in another thread kek

>being afraid of differential pressure
only if you sit in the office all day
imagine being in your 20ies and not having enough lung capacity to make 5 to 10 times more than the average office drone
not only do we keep in peak physical condition and health as regular part of our jobs, we also have health check ups every 3 months so its impossible to get a chronic condition, you can just get blown up in half of a second
meanwhile office workers all have 10+ chronic conditions each

paco and juan =/= skilled, experienced tradie
they are manual labor drones who can lift heavy things and put them back down.. it takes skill, intellect and experience to install a cargo elevator or do mig/tig/co2 welding of a pipe which conducts fluids without it leaking

stuff im speaking off requires application of differential calculus (from time to time) and use of cad (computer aided design) software to test shear stress, metal fatigue, ultrasound equipment for weld inspection...
its a much more serious industry than getting uni degree which is just highschool math + buzzwords and has limited, oversaturated use

well, college degrees were never useful in the first place. they're just an extra filter

college, especially 1st world college is absolutely useful if you want to be a doctor/engineer
everyone else, what the fuck are you even doing?

I'm not sure what memes you're reading but it varies a lot what tradies earn here. It depends on a lot of things
>region of the country
>union or non union
>is the trade wage depressed or outcompeted by illegals
>years of experience.
In a city like say, austin, a union electrician makes like 30/hr, whereas in chicago they would make 45/hr and in san francisco 55-60/hr. Its a good living for the amount of education investment, but its not a 6 figure golden ticket for the vast majority of tradies. Of course others like elevator mechanic or lineworker make more, but there are offsets.

You sound like my dad honestly, he used to be a very skilled tradie too and now he own his own factories
I don't want to be like him though going to become a civil servant next year already pass the exam, i'm a lazy bastard

I'm not saying tradies like kings but they make a decent wage all things considered, but the weird thing is the surplus of mexican labour you guys have that could cut those wages down to minimum wage tier

the way you turn your trade into a golden ticket is simply being self employed, starting your own company
simple as
do electrical work for paycheck, boss gets 90% of the money you produced
do electrical work as a contract, you just added another 0 in your income

this is the whole point of trades: its a path to self employment, you get to cut out the middleman

While you partied in college, I studied the toilet

I can smell your cumstains lol
Are you a flip or why are you this socially uninitiated

i'm a shut in sperg. haven't left my apartment in weeks.

even shut-ins eventually starts to see through bullshit, and i noticed your non-denial

well I'm always on the look out for larps as I mentioned in another post in this thread. you wouldn't be the first guy to accuse this serb poster of larping. it has happened in other threads too.

Illegals get filtered out by trade unions. At best they become subcontractors and get paid a fraction of the fee in cash. They were brought in by business interests with low operating costs who wanted to lower them even more. You look at like the teamsters in less skilled blue collar work, they would let in illegals and ultimately fuck them over because they are an ethnic racket and don't really give a shit about non italians/greeks/whatever.
I agree, a lot of tradies aspire to it with enough years under the belt but not all. The unions do ok taking care of their own and some stick it for some reason.

so you're saying we can expect blue collar wages to plummet once Biden gives amnesty to all the illegals and opens up the border to Puerto Ricans, Mexicans and Central/South Americans?

So would doing some vocational education as a back up could be useful if you are unsure about what you are going to do?

>po' men
What did Malays mean by this

This is a good example of someone who knew the right people and got lucky in life. If a job is high paying and in high demand, young people will do anything to get it. That's how desperate they are. It's not that nobody wants to be a tradesman, it's just very difficult to get there unless you have connections. I'm sure in Europe it's much much worse than it is here too, and it's bad here
