I mean, before the sanctions, people hated the government but these days no one sees any redemption in them.
And the only reason they're not going down is lack of a viable alternative, or a leader to collect people's thoughts and gather the youth, who like me, would rather live in fucking Turkey than to wait for reforms in Iran.
Where's this country going, seriously? I went to a vitamin shop, a place that sells ice cream and milkshake, and the owner, the simplest, least complicated person turned off the TV when the news came on. "This is all lies" he said. Who in Iran actually supports the government? My uncle is the most religious person I know and he despises them.
Why are they still in power? No political commentator can tell.

When I say Iranians "hate" their government I meant more than 75% percentile of them absolutely despise it. Your governments are democratic and competent. Iran's government, in all sense of the word, is incompetent.
Yes, Trump's administration was bad. Yes, Macron maybe allows in a little too many bougnoules, but the Iranian government has isolated its people, made them deal with absolute poverty, has failed to develop its digital infrastructure, and even some parts of its infrastructure, has made most of the Iranian youth seek refuge in adamant substance abuse, has put absolutely draconian laws on culture, and overall, has failed to realize people have moved on from Islam and theology, but keeps saying that "YOU TOLD US TO ACT LIKE THIS" without realizing the 10 million people who voted yes for Islamic Republic in the '79 referendum are either dead, or regret it forever.
Iran's government, if erected in say, 1700s, would have been an absolute utopia. Mixing ideology with democracy, mixing power of will with power of state... But not in fucking 21st century.
They say Khamenei realizes all these, it's just that 1- his hubris 2- IRGC that keeps him from resigning. Trump didn't help.
