I tried to find a way to prove you wrong, by searching for a list of Indonesian inventions.
But it seems the only things Indonesians invented and spread across the world are:
Piggy banks, kites, shadow puppet theatre, rice paddy field irrigation systems, and storing objects inside your penis.
All things the world could survive without.

i remember reading something interesting about indonesia:
the capital of indonesia jakarta is sinking in the ground, the government could easily prevent this, but for some reasons they decided to build a new capital right on the island of borneo in the jungle. can't find the article about this anymore, but from what i remember it had something to do with the poor people, water and to much concrete.

the real reason for the capital move is more political I think
because the government can't just uproot Jakarta and move it somewhere else
even if they went ahead with the capital move, Jakarta will remain as the economic and cultural center for a long, long time.

These countries are perceived by you as "more relevant" because your awful media manged to come up with negative stereotypes about them. Unlike Indonesia, because it's a beautiful country and there's nothing that needs to change about it. It would be one of the greatest countries on earth if it wasn't islamic, that's the only flaw in my opinion. otherwise it has an intact culture and is one of the few places in which the poor but happy meme is true

because tourism in Bali had been developed for a long time since the early 1900s by the Dutch. So they already have an established name.
The government had only recently started promoting other locations for tourism.
