Americans hate this movie because it's literally a mirror reflecting American society to them, and instead of getting angry at their society, they're getting angry at the messenger.
The entire controversy around it is purely American. People here in France haven't batted an eye, and the movie even received critical acclaim. Why? Because it explicitly denounces what it represents, and what it represents is the Americanization of French culture through the lens of hypersexualization of everything, including children. The entire movie is designed precisely so those scenes make you extremely uncomfortable - and it obviously worked.
What's really fascinating is that Americans blow steam about a movie depicting hypersexualization of children, yet they don't display near the same level of anger at things like cheerleaders, tween pop stars, or child beauty pageants.
American society is so thoroughly unable to look at itself in a mirror, that when a foreign movie comes out and criticize it, they accuse the producers of doing in fiction what they themselves are doing in real life. There's a nice parallel with politics and the fact that America NEVER questions itself, whether in foreign or domestic politics.
Except pedophilic themes in French films have been a staple for over a century The whole "hurr durr it's actually a social commentary" is a total retcon

millie bobby brown wasn't much older than these kids before she started behaving like a mega thot and feminists came to defend her. Why are people suddenly giving a shit now?

Check out this French music video from 8 years ago. Seems like baguettes are just into kiddies.

the zooming in on the crotch while theyre dancing and seeing nips through their shirt completely negates this

>"Blah blah blah the movie is actually super smart and so am I for defending it! Everyone praise my virtue and ignore how much I love underraged girls twerking!" Literally every fucking thread. Literally every thread is a dick-waving contest where Eurofags can't shut up about how "smart" they are for being attracted to children and how Americans are "retards" for seeing through that.
But the movie is French and the phenomenon it's about is more common in France at this point. I agree though

>no, you don't understand, we had to sexualize children in order to convince Americans that sexualizing children is wrong >if we hadn't forced those girls to perform stripteases and twerk in front of a camera nobody would have realized that pedophilia is immoral >yes, I got a boner while watching it, but I felt really bad about it afterwards
>the Americanization of French culture i thought it's about muslims? oh wait i get it
Chase Smith
>yet they don't display near the same level of anger at things like cheerleaders, tween pop stars, or child beauty pageants. You faggots keep saying this but those things are less extreme than this movie AND they've been publicly denigrated by American society for years. You cucks literally just make shit up so you can project hypocrisy onto people that criticize your movie.

This. My kids certainly won't be allowed to go on the internet until they are at least 16. No phones, computers, or internet enabled devices. No exceptions. I'm not letting the pedos get to them.
Luke Bennett
This movie seems to be about the factual, inevitable social norms prevalent among younger generations. Those irrationally making a big deal about it seem to be overcompensating because it's nothing that stuff such as TikTok doesn't enable. The internet silently and effectively killed the concept of childhood and growing up.
Luke Reyes
Seems to be the only rational reaction against this: parents being more attentive to what their children browse, watch and listen to (pop music lyrics have become x-rated to say the very least). It's in a way a losing battle because the social interaction in schools etc makes children and ya get acquainted with all this filth at least partially, but good parenting can teach them to avoid this stuff voluntarily.
Bentley Thomas
LOL, as if I would allow my child to attend a public school.

Who cares what the French think? You're 20 years from extinction.
Connor Nelson
Then again, you should take into account the cost of keeping a child from socializing with others of her own age. It's not that simple. These are complicated times.
Nothing is more important than raising them right and keeping them in the church. If they have to sacrifice having playdates or seeing other kids, so be it. Well worth the trade off in my opinion.
Lincoln Rodriguez
t. didn't watch the movie but thinks it's obvious the point of it was for pedos to jerk off
