Unemployment paying more is the craziest part. The US sounds like a shithole to live in. I've visited it briefly & that was my impression, matched perfectly with the expectation. Pockets of stupidly high wealth with a vast sea of ugliness & greed. People reminded me of a third world country, life is dirt cheap & everyone will fuck each other over & think its just being "smart". Reminded me of Chinks in a weird way desu, just absolutely no regard for anything beyond petty materialism.

Everywhere along the roads, except maybe the west which is just empty, feels as though it's been settled by people but only just barely, like the construction crew came through -once- to build a road next to a farmer's land who is the only inhabitant for miles but owns all the land surrounding his little single family ranch house
It can be stifling since it feels like you can go out into the wilderness, but you're always 'technically' trespassing on some other guy's property that he never uses

People are too spooked desu. I work part time as a glorified garbage guy in a hospital and have been in contact with corona garbage for weeks now. Still don't have the 'rona and neither do any of my friends and family who I've been in contact with.

I'm furloughed and getting unemployment which pays more than my job. I want to stay on unemployment. My job sent out an email saying they were tentatively going to try to open on June 15th but they may be calling back people individually to come back before that. If we refuse to come back we would lose our gibs. My question is, if I change my phone number and avoid all contact with them can I just claim they never contacted me to come back and keep getting gibs

I would honestly prefer returning to work however they’re trying to make us wear mask 40 hours a week even though during the last month we didn’t need to when the virus was “in full effect”.
