he $SENT iOS application is nearing the final stages of development with the focus primarily being on UI.
The application will be available on Testflight most likely within the next week, and will be open for suggestions and comments on how the UI/UX can be improved.
Currently the application will provide access to community hosted servers that are supporting the IKEV2 protocol so the node list on the iOS application will not be the same as the current OpenVPN node list. Future integration will include WireGuard which will also be supported on other platforms, allowing for further consolidation of nodes.
The iOS application will be fully open-sourced allowing for individuals and organziations alike to customize and build on it the way that the Android client is currently being built on. The iOS application will further expand the reach of the Sentinel dVPN application.
SENT and haircomb token are the only two legit crypto currencies.

Been accumulating this for 6 months now. Bag is getting heavy. It's in the best shape it has been in and lots of developments coming. Rumour has it they got into Binance labs and have thousands of Chinese users already.
Ok I'll bite. Why is this particular dVPN better than the thousands of others? Why do I need to buy Eth then change it on some exchange (sent isn't Binance?) Then get the token to use on my phone? I use expressvpn and it covers my phone and pc without needing a token.
sentinel recently won 2 phases of cosmos game of zones securing their ATOM reward, this will helped the team test their knowledge about tendermint in preparation for SENT main net release
SENT is not a normal centralized VPN but a dVPN it allows anyone to host a dVPN node and sell their own bandwidth, so you will be able to host a node during the night and browse for free during the day. theidea is for sentinel to do to bandwith what uber did to taxis, anybody can become a bandwidth seller. this should make prices way cheaper as there is global competition. also sentinel relay net allows to decide the amounts of hops your node goes through thus ensuring probabilistic privacy. you will also be able to connect using a special kind of exit nodes that will funnel your traffic directly into tor thus, or you could use tor before entering the vpn network, giving yourself 2 layers of privacy.
There aren’t thousands of others. There are like 3 left, but Sentinel is the only one with truly solid tokenomics, interoperability prospects and codebase. Check out their traction on stats.sentinel.co
so i will be able to host a node and get payed for it ? isn't it dangerous ?
Thomas Gray
Anyone seen Orchid? Tried the Android app but not as good as Sentinel’s. Also, Orchid’s tokenomics don’t stack up and they are building on ETH whereas Sentinel are building on Cosmos and Tendermint which seems much more viable for the future. Thoughts?
there are 3 types of sent nodes: -relay nodes (the ones consumers will host, you will have no problem as you never see the unencrypted data) exit nodes (have the same risk as tor exit nodes, this is tought for people that want to a take higher risk for a higher reward, those people can host a exit node, thats a pretty big pool of people, and all data centers in non five eyes jurisdctions sentinel will become as decentralized as tor with the added benefit that people that run tor nodes can host a sentinel node at the same time and actually get payed for their very useful service tor has more then 10k nodes and the potential incentivization unlocks sentinel will reach a higher exit nodes count in few years

you will not have to buy eth or sent to use sentinel. The goal is to have whitelabel vpn partners so that most users are not even aware they are using a dvpn, they just pay regularly over paypal or whatever and the whitelabel vpn partner uses the sentinel network in the background. There are already two whitelabel partners: spyder vpn and velocity vpn on the android app store.
also even if you want to pay with cryptocurreny cosmos ibc allows you two pay with any cryptocurrency you want, does not have to be ethereum based or anything, can also be bitcoin for example.

the whole reason why sentinel switched away from ethereum is that normal users can't be bothered with having to manage 2 coins and learn how to use gas dapps are switching away from ethereum and building their own chains forum.cosmos.network/t/list-of-projects-in-cosmos-tendermint-ecosystem/243 smart projects are building their own chain on tendermint/cosmos ecosystem, as ethereum gas price is slowly cutting out lower value usecase, by sharing a chain with all other projects you are making your users pay more
Looking forward to new ios app. Will open up a much larger user base.

What's % return for hosting a node?
Asher Sanders
You have hit the nail on the head here. Eth is garbage for lots of micro transactions and I've not got high hopes for ETH 2.0 after all their internal fighting either. The Cosmos / Tendermint Ecosystem is far stronger and more stable. SENT will win the dVPN race, no doubt.
even if ETH 2.0 delivers (which i doubt) its still years away the upgrade planned this year will have very little of the planned features, and no scaling upgrade
SENT main net will be launched later this years after the ios app and v3 client release, only after main net is launched you will be able to monetize your bandwidth. main net will also allow to earn through staking SENT cause it will be a dpos tendermint based chain
at the moment yes, but it will be a cosmos zone eventually
Ethan Parker
SENT team back spamming their pajeet memes
Camden Jones
What does cosmos zone mean? Like a token but on cosmos instead of eth?
Caleb Bennett
cosmos zone means it will have its own sovereign chain connected to cosmos main chain. the SENT hub will be secured by staking sent tokens and you will get interest in exchange

The nodes that expressvpn use or any other commercial VPN. Surely they are better than individuals hosting? I mean more reliable and have better speeds? I use my VPN for watching Netflix mainly.
The stats mean nothing to me, but cool to see them I guess. I have no interest in holding some random token. Is there a way to use real money and pay for a subscription like a regular product?
If that's the case, surely the big companies would eventually use Sentinel network to host traffic and charge people on top?
Seems like a nice project, but I fail to see how having a 1000 smaller barely used vpns can compete against the likes of Nord or Express. They are established brands people will be attracted to. Regardless of hacks (Nord). People just want a quick and easy way of watching Netflix or geo restricted website/content.
Samuel Rodriguez
the speeds are similiar or better then other vpns as you have residential nodes and data centers nodes. the advantage is that with time people might host nodes that are closer to you, so you might get better latency.
> Is there a way to use real money and pay for a subscription like a regular product? sent team has announced that after main net they will implement fiat gateways.
eventually legacy vpn providers can integrate with sentinel to participate in multi hop relay net and offer the ability to pay with user crypto to their users. spidervpn will be the first vpn integrating with sentinel : twitter.com/sentinel_co/status/1168130955728412673
so how do i host a node ? i like the idea of contributing to make surveillance more costly for govs
Matthew Ramirez
> if that's the case, surely the big companies would eventually use Sentinel network to host traffic and charge people on top?
That is the goal, Sentinel being the backbone of other big commercial vpns and the user not knowing they use something with cryptocurrency in the background.
Now why should vpn companies use sentinel in the background?
- cheaper costs per node/server - no administrative overhead - software to admin all node,.. is provided to them by sentinel - residental IPs - a many potential Ip addresses that cannot be banned as easily as data center IPs
I understand SENT is a erc-20 for now....When they make the switch to tendermint, how exactly is that done? Do they take a snap shot or eth address and how do they link that to your cosmos address.
