The only gundam that could soundly beat EVAs are turn A, Unicorn, and Setsuna

Wing gundam. Flight + beam weaponry is pretty much a hard counter.

Maybe a direct shot from a Gun Cannon could trash an Eva, but Eva's have the advantage of not actually being Mechs, and the first generation of Gundams and Zaku's were pretty low quality.
