If I want to generate a random number on the blockchain, I spend like 8 bucks to do it. This is the going rate for a LINK governed smart contract. It's a secure protocol for validating transactions between blockchain ledgers. There are other technologies that do the same thing, but for cheaper rates. However, LINK has first mover advantage, like BTC, and it has substantial backing.

It's shilled on this board because the linkmarine meme and others are high quality and resonate with the cyrpto market at this time. I haven't really seen any white paper-based justification, but then again I don't really live on this board I just hop on for a few months every year or so and check in on the trends so wtf do I know.

does first mover advantage even matter, I guess it just means link is more likely to have faster adoption but if theres widespread adoption then eventually the higher fees to use the network will just make link unusable at some point and people will just use the alternatives

I know the fee doesnt change but thats in link since the fee is the token, so if the price of the token goes up the fee goes up (in usd or other cryptos), thats what I meant, you get the same problem like with btc, a high price for the token makes the fees go up which disincentivizes its actual use
