You don't get "a new link" every year, or every couple of years. We haven't been fucking obsessed with this project for three years and counting because it's going to go to $15 then fizzle away.
Learn about the smart contract tech stack, learn about how many industries it will change forever, learn about just how much of that stack Chainlink has both monetised, and has a monopoly on, and then go all-in LINK.
