You’re literally right though. Link token is used for absolutely *nothing* now. Zero. Nada. The nodes that supply oracle services have nothing staked on them and are just KYC nodes that are approved by sir gay himself.
What you failed to see, like many others, is the sheer power of memery over price. That is what took the price over the sky, not the usage of the token. Is chainlink, the centralized company, doing things with other companies? Yes. Is it using link for that? No, not at all.
Doesn’t matter though. Link is tangentially connected to the company so number go up. This is not limited to crypto, and Tesla is doing exactly the same thing now. The shares are almost worthless when you look at the income/value ratio because it is actually even gucking negative now, let alone anywhere within a good ratio. However, musk is a top memer and got it to go ~4x over what he himself said, publicity, is “overvalued share price”. The bulls are not rational anywhere, ever. Reading their irrational emotions will net you 1000x your investments, but you have to have godlike instincts and not be just lucky because otherwise you’ll lose it all
Investing based on tech is still valid, it is just way more objective and therefore easier for others to get too, so you won’t get crazy spikes or returns there.

Explain to me this situation. Node operator X want's $10k more collateral to post in his node so that he can post collateral for higher value contracts.
As most of the circulating supply of LINK is already locked in contracts and being hoarded by nodes, the market price of the remaining available LINK tokens is $1000USD.
Explain to me why, in this instance, the node operator chooses not to buy 10 LINK at $1000USD, on the basis that "The market cap number caused by this trade would be a very big number"
