they are one firmware update away from being compromised. they also have been physically compromised:
Wallets
from my understanding, there are two main reasons
1. convenience. Its much more work to set up an offline machine from which you sign transactions. hardware wallets can connect to web3 providers like metamask and are basically as easy as using a hot wallet
2. for long term storage, hardware wallets are better than usb drives. usb drives are not meant to store data for a long time, but rather data transfer. if unpowered for a while (10 years maybe) they can lose data.
hardware wallets are supposed to have some guarantee of long term storage capability
how long can you store a hardware wallet before it breaks down and stops working? 10 years?
>wallet.fail
this hack is not sustainable in real life. let me guess you prefer trezor? I hate that shit tribalism on those two. trezor was REALLY exploitable in the first versions, you was able to install an exploit who told you pin and seed. wtf was that, huh?
you shouldn't depend on that anyhow.
your hardware wallet can stop functioning any minute. any fucking minute. that's how you handle it.

Seems like a pretty interesting profession. You must have all sorts of interesting stories.
