The apartment you are renting is earning your landlord income just by existing. Your landlord is probably using a home equity line of credit to avoid paying taxes on their wages. On top of this you are paying rent to cover any forseeable maintenance issues and property management fees. Imagine thinking that your landlord is actually stressing over these things lmfao

People that are paying more than 40% of their income over a 30 yr period in mortgage fees are going to be poor forever, yes. People who are actually taking out 30 year mortgages and leveraging it while paying off the balance in 10-20 years are coming out way ahead of any renter.

the ultimate redpill on rent vs own is thinking about your life when you finally retire. the average person collects about $1500/month on social security. do you want to be spending $1000/month of that $1500/month on rent until the day you die? property taxes and upkeep (unless you absolutely neglected your home for the last 10-30 years) are nothing compared to paying rent in perpetuity.

Everyone who moves into my building pays 2200. I pay 1200. My rent can't go up more than 2%. If there is hyperinflation of the US dollar, this will only benefit me.

My landlord is responsible for heating, water, fixing things, etc. I would be a moron to buy a home. A hurricane could come and destroy housing values at any time in the next 20 years before I finish paying my shit off.
