How do people do this job for years? Got a job as an estimator for a civil construction company a few months ago and I thought it would be fun to just crunch numbers and shit but 2 things I failed to realize, just what went in to cost estimating and how fucking boring it is to be in an office all day. When I worked hard labor unrelated to this field I dreamed about being in an office but the grass is not greener as they say. I want to blow my head off after 2-3 hours. Not to mention just how much is involved with the construction field. I have respect for anyone that has done this longer than a year
Cost estimator
Yep the fun part is being the person that hires them
Kek ive been doing it for nearly a decade
I did it for two years. Went on biz in my copious amounts of free time. Also managed all my personal finance spreadsheets.
What field is it in and how do you stay sane? While very little physical stress the mental stress is fatiguing in its on way.
id prefer not to say but construction not too dissimilar to yourself. They money is decent and I can get by with 75% effort so it's not that bad really. I don't think I can take much longer though. Weed helps me cope and keep on wagin'
I quit smoking for the job because I am unsure of drug testing policies when it comes to this type of work or if office people even get tested but I do miss coming home from work and elevating with a little herb. Wish it didn't have such a bad stigma attached to it. Im not a stoner more of an after work couple puffs and im good.
I've never been tested yet, do you live in the US?
Yeah PA
Ah I live in the UK, I don't work in corporate office so I probably get off a lot easier than you kek
