So why do you even want to live there? There's a lot of cheap property in Sweden. Also, if you want to compare prices with London or LA or something HOA costs is much more interesting to compare. There's great tax breaks on mortgages in Sweden, so the actual cost of the apartment isn't that interesting. Stockholm actually has uniquely low HOA compared to other capitals around the world. If you have the cashflow to handle the loan, you can still make decent investments in Stockholm.
