zoomers can't handle isometric games

>tfw too much of a zoomer to be able to enjoy CRPGs

>Arcanum flopped
>Witcher 3 made a gorillion
Gee user i dunno

Melee/Tech is the best build in the game and anyone who says tech is weak compared to magick has has either never tried it or is a liar.

It might be fun, but it's objectively weaker and more bothersome.

>easy mode shitter
cringe

>Objectively weaker
Early game moltavs are fireballs than cost no mana and no AP, so you can throw as many as you've made, which the ingredients can be found at every store for cheap and in trash cans. Balanced swords can be made as soon as you visit your first town, and that thing gives you a million hits. You get even more AP by crafting charge rings, which you can make one by the mines of the first town and many more after. Once you get to Tarant you and the boys break into some dudes basement, destroy mechanical spiders, and get the recipe for the Pyrotechnic Axe. Which can easily be made since Dwarven ore can be gotten from a quest to kill rats in Tarant and the wooden handle can be gotten from jumk sellers. Once you got the axe no golem, door, or chest can hope of breaking it and it deals like 60 fire damage. Just use your inventions to stack your party up. Outside of lack of teleportation it BTFO's magik

>gunslinger/tech
Kino and patrician

Gunners have nothing but a life of pain.

The path less chosen is a path worth taking

This game filtered me hard. The charisma way was not worth it, I was constantly in the look out to not get into fights and eventually got stuck.

How can you get stuck? Charisma builds meant that you have others to fight for you.

Worth taking once you get a gun that's actually worth shit. I'd say stealing sure helps with that but I'm not sure if that'd suck some of the soul out of it.

I don't remember in which point I got stuck but it surely was a close quarter combat and I got killed before my companions could save me. I really don't remember.

my first character dropped int and dumped everything into strength and turned out alright

Hows flamethrower?

How about you actually read the dialogue options you get rather than just hit the "speech option" like in other RPGs

>I'd say stealing sure helps with that but I'm not sure if that'd suck some of the soul out of it
I played as a Bandit...it was fitting.

I feel like you got filtered at the gate bandits kek

more like arcGAYnum LMAOOOOOOO

i love arcanum, but it was far from perfect game. engine was a fucking mess, it was ugly and it worked like ass even on powerful computers of the time. i finished it a couple of times but the combat was way too easy whatever build you make. fighter? just chop them all up. fighter/mage? just chop them all up while they're maimed with your magics. technologist? just get a fucking pyrotechnic axe and plow with it throughout the entire game. better builds are stealth/persuasion and generally more fun to play, but nothing gives the level of satisfaction like just butchering your opponents

Mediocre, but you wouldn't use it in a melee/tech build seeing as it's made from a gun.

You took the bandit background though?
Retarded half ogre is stupid fun

I absolutely did get filtered by the gate bandits on my first playthrough

Was anything on that game cover even really in the game besides the airship?

>replay arcanum
>try roleplaying as different character types but always end up playing a qt half-elf slut
curse of the coomer

The sex dialog makes you feel filthy.

As casual as it sounds I liked how every build had something busted about it, even if it made the game on the easy side. I'd argue it also makes the game a really good entry level game in a genre that's known to for being difficult. I'd recommend it to my friends over a game like Fallout 2 that filters HARD for that very reason.

Is the charged accelerator rifle supposed to be a Gauss rifle?
In any case my builds usually involve rushing the pyrotechnic axe so I can fight golems and stuff without worry of the weapon breaking.

Tech healing was a piece of shit. SHIT.

only if you know what you're doing, someone who decides to play a gunslinger will get BTFO throughout the early game

>Elf bitch
Yes, she is the elf companion you get in the elf capital
>train
there's trains everywhere
>flamethrower dwarf
Of course
>mage
of course
>hanging gardens
what the hell is that

>Gate Bandits are a filter
How?

Yeah but isn’t the death spell in the first tier of necromancy the most broken thing ingame?

Any gunslinger should drop the first points into melee combat and ignore guns for a while. Every stat of early guns is atrocious.

I made a shitty char on my first run (gunslinger/charisma). Wasn't able to persuade them, and wasn't able to beat them in a fight. I think I wasn't even able to hire the ogre in the tavern.

>>hanging gardens
>what the hell is that
Might've been Caladon if the maps weren't as flat as a sheet of mercury.

>roll gunslinger/tech
>mod the portrait to be Viggo from Hidalgo
Felt kino.
Too bad I never actually finished the game. Some life situation always came up.

>zoomers can't handle isometric games
League of Legends is isometric.

>You took the bandit background though?
Yes.

It's arguably the best spell in the game, yeah.

tech is cool thematically, but its annoying have to do so more batman tier prep work

Also don’t firearms have a chance to fail & explode, instantly kill you?

It's strong yeah, I'd say broken in real time If you didn't get rushed down in a millisecond by enemies in real time. But it's not the end all spell. I'd argue throwing weapons are more busted because throwing costs no AP. Hell if it's a grenade your throwing it's got AoE
damage too. And your pyrotechnic axe will kill faster than harm.

Yeah sure, that or you can just spam Harm for the entire game.

Make moltavs or buy potions from the potion seller right before the gate.

Arcanum's still the best RPG I've ever played. No other game's given me a quest where I intentionally botch it, forfeiting a useful reward, just because I didn't like what would happen to a place if the questgiver got exactly what he wanted.

You can harm yourself with any crit-fail.

I forgot how guns explode but IIRC the chance of it happening depends on some stat or aptitude, so it isn't a problem with mid-high level gun users.

It scales like crazy based on your magick scale, cheap and eventually hits really hard. Only Disintegrate can compete because it's an instant death spell (it's bugged that it hits with 100% accuracy, enemies were supposed to be able to resist it)

That was many years ago, I was able to get passed it in my subsequent playthroughs.

Attached: external-content.duckduckgo.jpg (500x500, 41.9K)

You can also run a circus runaway Half-Ogre with enough STR to punch wholes clean through people, your point? The game has a lot of Broken options. I'd argue melee/tech outdoes them all though.

I cast Stasis, Haste and Tempus Fugit.
Did you say something, niggermancer?

If you have magical aptitude you get increasingly high chance of critical fail which can grievously harm, maim or even kill you.
