Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door

>Worse music
>Worse graphics
>Worse partners
>Rehashed levels
>Disjointed world
>OBVIOUSLY unfinished: mountains of text and all sorts of unnecessary backtracking to pad out the game

Better than the Nintendo 64 version my ass

Zoomers like it because it was their first Mario RPG, the original Mario Story is a classic that’s aged like fine wine.

>YOURE A TRANNY IF YOU DONT LIKE MY ZOOMER GAME

Why are 64fags so insecure about their game? TTYDchads enjoy both while 64fags obsess over trying to tear down thousand year door.

Mario Story is just a better game than Paper Mario RPG. Get over it zoomer

yes yes of course we get it
>guys what if old game wasn't actually good but actually BAD
this meme has been done before and its boring now

What are you talking about? I said the old game is good and the new one sucks.

>Mario Story

Writing in TTYD is way better and anyone who would argue otherwise is borderline illiterate.

The Arena chapter and Train murder chapter are certified gold as is literally any sequence featuring Bowser.

PM64 has it beat in some regards (music, level structure) but TTYD has a much better script. Both are 10/10 games in my book.

>cope

super paper mario unironically has better rpg elements than any other game in the series

Everything you just posted is completely wrong

Nice work.

Feel like Paper Mario 1 had more consistent chapter quality, but TTYD had higher highs with lower lows.

I like both games
AND Super Paper Mario

fucking false flagging, false-dichotomy posting

This. What tips it for me is the improvements to the battle system TTYD afforded.

absolute madman
me too

so should everyone

Nice argument.

How the fuck is it this a zoomer game when the original came out only 3 years prior

Literally the only true fact up there is the backtracking
>music
>gameplay
>partners
>story
>writing
>graphics
>characters
All better in TTYD
far more creative than 64 too

>worse partners
>disjointed world
undisputable facts
>backtracking
debatable but I see how you might have a point
>worse graphics
false in that the graphics are actually better HOWEVER, the style is different so whether THAT is better or worse is subjective; I personally prefer the graphical style of Paper Mario 64 as it makes the world feel like a more believable setting, while TTYD starts leaning a bit more heavily towards the "paper" aesthetic which a lot of the later games are criticized for

The GameCube is a zoomer console

Westerners calling it Paper Mario is what ruined the series because then the devs went all out with the origami shit

you'd be surprised how much of a difference a single year gap can make to kids being born in one year to the other, either the previous or following, or at least it was like that back then, culture has become so homogenous and stagnant now that that metric might no longer apply
>more creative than 64
well... yeah. 64 feels like a more conventional mario experience, which is fine considering it was the first game in the series, which allowed the sequel to get crazier, a situation similar to the Ocarina of Time to Majora's Mask transition if you will

Mario RPG was the first in the series, Mario Story was the second in the series.

Not wrong, but I feel like TTYD got the balance just right. The world was obviously paper, not only was it less in-your-face than later entries, but it was rarely treated as such in-game. You can't turn sideways or turn into a plane because you're paper, you can turn sideways or turn into a plane because you're "cursed". The characters and world not being actively aware that they're 2d lets you, the player, also forget that fact, meaning that they get to surprise you with a funny gag or a charming effect.

Nah Mario Story was okay with it, but Paper Mario RPG went WAAAAAY overboard with it

Based

You forgot
>Lots and lots of backtracking especially if you're going for the side quests
Mario and Luigi Partners in Time is the big brained Mario RPG.

I'm too nostalgic to the original paper Mario to not be biased but 64 definitely had a lot more soul than TYD

Zoomer's first console was the wii.

>Despite outsourcing most of the coding to KT, 3H still came out unfinished as fuck
>AlphaDream is dead
>Cipher is cancelled, which means Kawade's hands are free
Are we going to see a new Paper Mario game in the future?

No it was the GBA and GameCube, some zoomers got the PS2 a few Xbox but mostly GBA and GameCube

this is the correct take
but i do prefer 64 because i played it first

TTYDfags are almost always the ones claiming their game is superior, so no.

>Nooooo you can't just defend the game you think is better in a thread attacking it

based, I might not have been able to continue it because I'm quarantined without my Wii U but from the little time I spent with PiT I'm enjoying it more than Kekistan Saga, also, is it me or is PiT REALLY comfy? Might be the setting, I dunno, but I wasn't very keen on the Beanbean Kingdom besides Little Fungitown. Also, yeah, don't remind me of the backtracking in the fucking sidequests in TTYD, I shudder only thinking about it.
