nah

can I hold a flashlight and a weapon at the same tie without mods?

They made a third Doom?

do you have three arms or something? That's impossible.

Correct. Posers and fakers will say otherwise.

not the best but pretty good.

greatest survival horror game you'll ever play.

uhm it's achually poseurs, retard

>handgun
yeah okay fag.

I like how everyone bitched on release that there is no duct tape on mars but when it gets added into BFG everyone bitches because "its not the same!!!!111one"

Alright I'm finally gonna do it. I'm finally going to be the asshole that goes to the well for this:

It was a good game, but not a good Doom game.

well that's because the entire world is one person, obviously. the non retarded answer is that people who complained about the flashlight didn't really care that much and moved on to the next flavor of the week while people that actually liked the game were the ones who wanted to buy a remastered version down the road, and those were the same people who liked the game as-is.

Crazy idea but hear me out. Perhaps those were different groups of people who only had reason to speak out when they saw something they disliked?

felt more like a Doom game than the recent zoomerDoom saturday morning cartoon shite.

Just get the redux mod - it makes vanilla look better than BFG anyway.

I like doom 2 more, but I prefer doom3 over any of that nu-doom shit
Doom 2016 and it's sequel is just a fancy looking Brutal Doom

> fancy looking Brutal Doom
They were explicitly modeled after brutal doom. It is cited as one of the big influences for 2016.

literally just played though this game again over the weekend and I thought it was pretty bad.
1. literally at least 60% of fights it teleported 1 or more enemies in behind you. The strat becomes once shit spawns go backwords kill whatever then turn around and fight.
2. You literally fight from A to B then fight back to A (or C) then fight back to B. Which was just padding the game out.
3. The outside mechanic was used a total of 4 times? No sustained fights or real fear of running out of oxygen
4. most fights consisted of small and big imps, zombies, merc zombies, spooders, nothin personal kiddo teleporters. When the game is over 2/3rds in we get bone golems, reverants, and the floating head boys
5. Lots of redundant weapons. Grenades were almost useless due to everything teleporting in. The shotgun remains one of the best weapons for the entire game with shitloads of damage and ammo.

I can go on more if you want. They could have fixed it with some more variety imo.

I'm fine with regular ol' vanilla personally. it's a classic game as-is.

Doom Overthinked and Doom qubed attempt to address those shortcomings but i've not been much of a fan of them.

Redux is just a graphical and sound overhaul - no gameplay changes. Nice high resolution art and a decent boom to the shotgun makes it superior to vanilla in my opinion.

Here's the real issue. OG Doom appeals to a wide variety of tastes because it gets so many things right. People who like the idea of taking on hordes of demons and punching imps so hard they turn into giblets will love it just as much as those who like to explore the maps for secrets, or those who like creeping around the dark maze-like areas with a shotgun. All the later games get hyper-focused on just one or two aspects about what makes Doom feel like Doom, so if your favorite thing isn't there, that's all you'll notice.

fuck you talking to me incel?

I loved my time with it back on release. The mechanic with light or fight was definitely different and pretty terrifying at the time.

The recent re-release is incredible on the X1X, but based on the BFG edition.

Where is doom eternal on the continuum?

i don't understand what that means

Oh, I thought you were talking about vanilla Doom 3. That's what my complaints were on. I never tried any mods for it DESU and I don't have BFG edition.

somewhere behind Kellog's ill fated Doom breakfast cereal.

Haven't seen any Zoom Eternal threads in a while. It's almost as if everyone played it once, stopping only to shitpost about how it's THE GREATEST GAME EVAR MADE, and then instantly forgot all about it.

>can I hold a flashlight and a weapon at the same tie without mods?

Jesus fucking Christmas can't any of you tell the position of an enemy with your hearing? You guys deaf or something?

>open door
>monster jumps at you
woahhhhhh

>walk into room
>lights go out
>monsters spawn behind and in front of you
BRO WOW

>find pda
>have to listen to some retard to tell you the number to a cabinet so you can have a monster jump out at you
broooos.....

Doom Eternal dropped the ball because Doom IS Space facilities and Hell. Not Mountains and Fantasy castles.
