Undeniably THE best VR game, and one of the best video games of all time. An easy candidate for game of the year. This game is fucking great, I was suspicious that my enjoyment of it was just a honeymoon phase thing, but 2 months and 4 playthroughs later, every second of this game is still incredible. No low points, whatsoever. VRbros, where you at? What's your:

But that's not fnaf hw
How about we settle for best ground-up VR game, then?
i wasn't even scared at all playing that game and didnt even quit after vent repair lol i wasnt even scared i wasnt!
The vault's mindfuck areas were the peak of the game and are the biggest highlight of why the game needed to be VR. You simply will not understand the experience of seeing all of that madness by watching it on a flat screen.
I'm sure the game is great. The problem is, this game could've been done in the HL1 engine and it would still be good, also be playable on worst Laptops. Instead you need to buy a VR set to play it, and 90% of machines on earth can't run it.
Modded Skyrim VR is still the undefeated top tier kino experience, sorry.
I look back on alyx and I see more missed opportunities than anything, not that it's a bad game, but I feel like unlike some other VR games I've played this would lose very little from being a non VR game.
I'm just hoping the modding community picks up the slack valve left.
X3 VR when
I have to agree with this. Even if it's great, it could've been so much more. That's why I hope it's just the appetizer to whatever Valve has planned next.
They had so much fucking time though.
In a normal context I would be pretty satisfied but the game is closer to an episode than a full game.
Half-Life 3 is going to be amazing though.
>journey into the unknown
>giant fucking bacteriophage set piece
>time space distortions
>throwing force lightning at nerds
>realizing it took all that tech to contain him and you were going to undo it
100% pure kino
Literally not a game. 90% walking simulator.
It's up there with some of the worst games I have ever played.
I love these new Combine designs

Love seeing the civil protection with modern graphics. Shame we never fought them.
Yeah, hopefully we get some addons that allow us to fight them
I still can't get over how damn good they look

cant decide, but one that i remembered yesterday was opening that garage door to reveal the massive tripmine room, I have so many memories being stuck on that shit in HL1 with my friends in sven coop so i audibly said "fuck not again" when i saw it, nice touch with the achievement for it too.
They look so real when they move. It's crazy.
the animation for them at the start of the game was insane, literally the most realistic NPC animation ive ever seen in a vidya. Apparently the lead animator mocapped everything himself, but then they rotoscopped the mocap footage and then traced over the rotoscope by hand in animation software, absolutely incredible.
I really wish we got an extended down time section like HL2 in city 17, theres so much stuff in this game that they give you a small taste of that could satisfy me for hours on end.
Haha poorfag
I want to play HL: Alyx so FUCKING bad but VR headsets are expensive in Australia. I wish you could rent VR headsets or something
how the fuck did valve innovate facial animation again?
They're so fucking smart with how they stylized it,
this youtu.be
you could get WMR headsets for like 300 dollarydoos + shipping a while ago, but that was before the rona so i have no idea how it would be now.
but on the plus side our dollar will probably beat seppo dollar soon, just import lmao

Shotgun most of the time but the SMG was really satisfying during the antlion section.

When you have to stop the train and it crashes into the tunnel blew my mind. Didn't expect that much spectacle so close. Also the strider that climbs on the roof at the beginning.
I just got a quest what should I play?
They go over it during the E3 demo near the start
