Yes it is. You can all lie to yourselves and act like it's not, but you hurt the developers by pirating. The game industry is terrible for developers who are constantly overworked and treated like garbage, half of the time they get fired after the game is finished. Then to add insult to injury, you cruel users steal the fruits of their labor and have the gall to act like you're helping the industry.
Emulation is the worst. Instead of stealing games like Pokemon, maybe you could write to companies like Nintendo and ask them to host them for purchase on a virtual console. You have no right to steal these games simply because their not in publication anymore.
Piracy is not only bad, it is despicable.

If you complain a lot that the industry doesn't cater to you enough (E.g. unattractive female characters, not enough focus on gameplay, etc.) or say shit like "go woke, go broke", but you pirate the games you do like, you're a huge dummy. You've proved with your very existence that developers are right not to cater to you.

This is like saying we don't get too many CRPGs so let's "support" the devs of the new Torment Planescape game. You don't just give people money to support them, you give em as little as you can get away with, that's capitalism.

Just because IP is bad doesn't mean piracy is inherently good. Some amount of piracy may compel companies to make better products, but it also just means they spend more of the buyers' money on developing DRM. So it ends up being a lose/lose/lose
