Xbox had previously burned off the section of their fanbase that would care about prerelease information about future video game consoles. The BONE announcement destroyed their public perception of how they viewed their consumers.
It isn't that Sony's fans care more, it's that the company didn't directly tell them to fuck off in the PS4 reveal, like the BONE did.

To be fair people would get excited for Halo 6 and Gears 6 too but both series went to shit. On top of that Microsoft completely killed Xbox's identity this gen, especially with the complete drop of exclusives.

360 and PS3 were basically neck and neck the entire generation. It's MS's own fault they decided to throw all that away and focus on TV and draconian DRM instead of building a strong stable of first party teams.

I play on PC too but it's not hard to see why someone would chose a console beyond the argument of exclusives.
I had a PC this gen but I'm not going to even bother upgrading and just get a PS5 instead. Consoles give you a good enough experience for half the price and they have exclusives. I care more about games and price than getting 60 fps in some third party multiplats.
PS3 was an embarrassment for like 90% of the generation.
Their online was so crap. Supposedly the superior console, but they couldn’t support cross game chat when the Xbox could.
They had to take it offline and rebuild it after the data breach. Took them 3 months to fix it after everyone’s credit card info was stolen. Nobody remembers how fucked up that was.
Gotta admit, I like the design. I just hope the white finish isn't the default color that comes with the console.

It's the start of a new generation so you can expect a significant leap in terms of graphics, it is a pretty big deal and seeing which new toy will push better visuals is exciting to argue about.
Just because something exists on PC doesn't automatically mean it will be 4k/60 for everyone. If steam surveys are any indication majority of players have potatoes.
Most people have already built a sizable library on ps4 and they'd lose it if they bought the xsx instead of ps5.
If you had to drop your steam accounts and migrate to EPG you would shit yourself to death. Just knowing that an alternative to your little Valve ecosystem exits makes you seethe.
People have their profiles, their trophies, their friends, their games, all their shit. There used to be good interconnectivity between sony's home consoles and handhelds before they dropped the ball, Nintendo used to have miiverse that worked on both 3DS and Wii U.
