You can criticize but don't be a dipshit, likewise, don't shut down anyone who are on the fence.
Want to just talk and speculate

It will be better than Color Splash, but not as good as the original three. The battle system will be incredibly repetitive and gamey. There will be no interesting character designs. The writing will be tolerable.

Last Paper Mario game I played was Super Paper Mario, which I enjoyed but didn't like as much as the previous games simply because it became just another platformer (albeit, a rather good one)
Never owned a WiiU or a Switch so haven't kept up to date, but it doesn't look like something I'd want to buy and play. Then again, neither does Odyssey, don't feel much interest in new Mario games (although still enjoy the old ones, really just for nostalgia probably)

Looked alright at first. The hints going to the right direction makes me slightly optimistic.
I just want a solid RPG with charming story and party members. No special bullcrap just consistency.

>Actual thoughts
Looks Promising but I have some reservations
>What do I expect
I expect it to be better than Color Splash at least, which was at least better than Sticker Star.
>Hopes
It's true blue classic Paper Mario with a few twist and it rivals even TTYD for best game.
>Hype level
7/10: I have higher expectations than Color Splash and I believe it will be better but the battle system really needs to be shown more so I can fully decide if I want it or not.

It will be better than Super Paper Mario.

Super Paper Mario was the closest we got to a Mario adventure game, as in like a point and click game. I liked it. RPG elements don't always need to be in a Paper Mario, but they've got to have the world/style down, which SPM did.

The only paper Mario game I played was on the 64. This one looks interesting. I dig the origami idea.

Gameplaywise will probably be better then Super Paper Mario, Sticker Star and Color Splash which isn't all that impressive at all.

This realization makes me realize that the Paper Mario franchise was never that impressive to begin with. as the games I mentioned above are fairly mediocre.

I honestly think the RPG stuff held the game back. Bosses were usually over in less than 30 seconds because it was so easy to become overleveled. If they went with something more traditional and had powerups that you could find while exploring it would've worked better.

I need to see how the battle system works. I can't believe Mario and Luigi got axed. I assume that the later games sold less than Sticker Star and Color Splash which is also mesmerizing.

I think the same thing about Color Splash too actually, that game would've been better off without battles at all and could've been better as a platformer adventure game.

I don't know what to expect. I haven't played the series after Super Paper Mario. I'll just see what the game has to offer for myself and hope the fact that I haven't played Sticker Star will give me an unbiased view.

Poke her minigame

I feel like OK will be the return to form people have been wanting since Sticker Star but will fuck up something that keeps the game from being Great. like Super Mario Party after 9 and 10.

From what I’ve seen is that we don’t have consumable attacks anymore, thank god. We also have an original villain since Spm instead of bowser being possessed two games in a row.

Based on what I’ve seen so far:
>Pros
>The games visual aesthetic looks great
>There appears be a plot beyond “Bowser gets [insert mcguffin here] and kidnaps Peach, which half of the series
>The combat system seems different from SS/CS
>Partners and the Audience appear to be back
>Cons
>It’s still going super hard on the whole “dude everything is paper lol” aspect
>Generic Enemy Partners are just that... generic
>The series hasn’t had a decent game in well over a decade, which doesn’t exactly instill confidence
>Unsure
>The combat system seems to be different from SS/CS but I haven’t seen enough any final judgments
The combat is going to make or break this game. This has been over million times already by but I’m cautiously optimistic. It look like it has the potential to be good and I hope it’s good, but I wouldn’t be suprised to find that Tanabe fucked up again. Definitely not a Day One Buy though, I’m gonna check out reviews and footage before making any decisions

You know, now that I think about it, there really isn’t any non-linear 2D Mario platformers. The 3D games have plenty of variety (free-ranged exploration based like 64 or Odyssey, linear leveled based games like 3D Land and World, or hybrids of the two like the Galaxy games) but all of 2D games are all more or less the same style. A game like SPM minus the rpg elements could actually be rather neat

1/2
imho, I have a deep feeling that tells me it's going to be the best one.

I loved every games insanely (but sticker star because I don'T own a 3ds) but it does seem to go into a real kino game.

>the artstyle
Color splash is one of the better looking game out there and it looks to be on par if not better than color splash
>music
couldn't hear a lot during the trailer, but what we got sounded great, not as good as what we gock with the ragtag/jazzy style in color splash tho

>story
love the idea that peach is ''villainous'' at the start and that you get imprisoned in her dungeons (peach castle having torturing chambers confirmed), breaking out with bowser and maybe having a plane crasht hat makes you start your adventure in the forest. Then you work your way to the base of the colored ribbons to open up the castle and go face BBE.

>mechanics
I hope we get somethigns imilar to color splash in term of ''repairing the world'' similarly to the paint hammer, the only thign is I wonder what we're going to do with that absurd amount of money, seeing as you won't need to buy as many cards/stickers I don'T see that being usefull for that and I can't see needing thousand of coins for extra time during battles. the battles themselves looks super promising, imagine, a wiggler that takes multiple cases that you need to interact in some way to deafeat him or like we saw in the teaser, the blooper, I am really interested on how you'Re going to fight him.

>exploration
world map in sticker star looks boring, world map in colorsplash was done perfectly so I didn'T really bother being mad at it, but an overworld would've been fun too, but now we seem to be back to being able to explore if at least just a bit. the desert section and boat section in the trailer showed that part of the game to be way way more opened that the previous 2 games even if it is probably going to be >roam around with boat>go to dock>stage starts.

The fact that they did away with the world map and the overworld is fully explorable and interconnected gives me hope but we'll see.

I'm thinking it will be better than Color Splash

>the Paper Mario franchise was never that impressive to begin with. as the games I mentioned above are fairly mediocre.
But the games you mentioned above weren't the beginning.

>It’s still going super hard on the whole “dude everything is paper lol” aspect
This is one of the things I really appreciated about the original Paper Mario. The "Paper" wasn't literal. Apart from a handful of gags, the world was just highly stylized with 2D characters. But now, especially with all the Nintendo games that have lazily cashed in on the "dude, what if everything was arts and crafts?" aesthetic, it just really feels tired.

2/2
>partners
don'T know anything about that yet, could be or maybe not. I think we might get them back based on the art that shows the ''partners'' ready to mingle with the enemy forces and the chinese trailer with the toad. But we really don'T have any confirmation, but for me, as long as the ''action economy'' feels right, I really don'T care as long as I can still interact with them outside of combat.
>paper style
always loved it, the first 3 games had nothing really pushing the paper theme except the art style and the curses in the 2nd game, the paper esthetic was really pushed to the max in color splash wich I ADORED and it seems to be really similar here but with even more details.I also liuke the self awarness that they are in a world of paper. imo, the paper theme feels right for the serie, without it, it would be like if mario&luigi games didn't have luigi in the fights but he would still be following mario without no real reasons
>puzzles
the puzzles in color splash were great, but figuring a puzzle out and thinking ''fuck, Ineed to go back to town to buy that thing card'' felt bad, I hope they don't uses''things'' again especially since they were in the previous 2 games, I want something new to solve puzzles
>hype
call me a nintendron, but I haven't been this excited for a game in years and to know that this is coming out in 2 months makes me super happy. I lvoed every paper mario games that I played since I was a child playing the very first game. If it wasn'T for the fact that color splash had a tedious combat system and the thing mechanic, I would give it a 10/10,so to see that this is pretty much color splash but with better mechanics (maybe) I can already see myself loving this gtame and giving it a 10/10 already. and my ''hype level'' is easily stronger than it ever was, so judging by the fact that I have never been super excited for a game, this is easily a 20/10 in term of how excited I am

call me a nintendron idc,it's going to be kino

Hoping we get some more info soon

the origami board is going to lose a lot of old threads for a bunch of nufag "gibsme dat diagram for MARIO!" threads. i will miss them.

Kamek and Bowser Jr. being partners is just so based.

Ring battle system will be basic. You will be able to complete the 'puzzle' using 2 turns at most.

You will use items to attack but can also use your base attacks to save items. (Stupid fucking system)

It’s going to be shit and anyone with a brain and at least one eye can see this. There’s nothing else to talk about. Paper Mario is dead.

It's obvious that the current team do not want to go back to the old style, for whatever reason.

That doesn't mean we can't have a great game that carries the spirit of Paper Mario. The dialogue is there, the writing is there, the level design is there, Tanabe's boner for a puzzle game is there, just make the Gameplay good for fucks sakes.

The ring system? Fucking interesting, moves are limited? and a timer to use your coins for? Nice, now just fucking execute it correctly Tanabe and then maybe you'll actually be respected.

You make some cool Toad design but kept these faceless toads with regular vests?

You DO know Captain Toad Treasure Tracker has Mummified Toads right Tanabe? Use those.

Alpha Dream went bankrupt making the Superstar Saga and BIS remakes, that's why there's no more M&L
