Based choice, as always

1>2>3 in terms of gameplay, aesthetic and OST. 3 has more of a plot and 2 has the best villain.

Not done with the remakes just yet but from what I have played, I'd agree. 2 is definitely the worst.

Favorite levels in the series? Mines either Metropolis and Fireworks Factory. Spooky Swamp too..

2>1>3 for me
I like the npcs and little side quests in 2 over the emptiness of 1 (which is also nice mind you and works well) and feel that 3 went to far in that area with the not so fun animal buddies. Plus talismans and orbs over babby dragons any day.
Hard to say, tiki springs is up there when I think about it, though I need to replay the games to get the levels fresh in my mind. Autumn Plains is my favorit hub with Evening Lake a close second

2 is a good game, but it has too many of "those parts". aquaria towers in its entirety, turtle soup mini game, popcorn II mini game, and the fucking trolley.

1>3>2

Tree Tops and it's not even close.

None of those are particularly hard for me at least
Most trouble I had with the first 3 would be the fucking dragons spirit things and yeti boxing in 3
Though I did have trouble with gulp and I think the knight boss from 3

2 > 1 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 3

3>1>4>2

2 is shit.

4 is a jankier version of 3 with god awful framerate and load times

What's that alien farm one?

Still better than 2

OP got it right, 2 is just a mess

the one from enter the dragonfly? that wasnt original trilogy

Sorry man I think you mean 3

You mean that one level from 4?... theres a robot farm in 2

That's the one, I know it wasn't from the original three.

This. 2 had plenty of stuff to collect and just enough atypical missions to spice things up, while still letting you spend most of your time just running around as Spyro. I also think it has the best aesthetic, and it's got most of its contemporaries beat when it comes to level variety. 1, meanwhile, was beautiful in how simple and elegant it was.

3 is still a lot of fun, but I think it really suffers for how many side characters it crams in that honestly feel pretty half-baked a lot of the time. Whenever I'm playing as one of the other characters, I'm basically just bummed that I'm not playing as Spyro.

This
I honestly can't understand how someone can say they liked 3 but think 2 is the worst. Hell, I genuinely can't understand how people can say 2 is the worst of the three in general, let alone be fine with 3 but NOT 2.

based
2 had so many shitty levels

Tree tops is based. I also like Misty bog alot too.

>combines the best of both game's music, so 3 has all the funky basswork and drumming of 1 AND the hauntingly beautiful soundscape tracks akin to 2 playing in the back
>takes the mediocre sidequest design from 2 and makes genuinely fun ones instead such as skateboarding and sheila tower defense
Actually quite based

Haven’t finished 3 yet but my take so far is this. 1 certainly has the most, dare I say it, soul.

3 kinda felt like it was having an identity crisis.

That's how I feel about the characters as well, sheila was fine (but really needed some horizontal velocity on her big jumps) and byrd was alright while bentley wasn't that fun and the monkey was pretty boring. I didn't like the monkey at all really, from personality to gameplay.
Strikes me as weird too, almost all discussion regarding favorites among the og games here I have seen basically come down to people arguing for either 1 or 2. First time I 've seen more than a few people prefer 3 or even hate 2. I really don't see how you could have 3 as your fave but hate 2.

Backtracking
3>2>1 these games until 3 were for the most part pretty much enter a level, beat it, never return, with 2 being the one where you could return to get shit you were bothered with earlier. not a bad thing but it gave incentive to explore more

The problem with the level design in 2 and 3 it's always a linear path where you have to either hit a switch or do something similar to open a door or the next part of the level. There's barely any room for exploration or variety in level designs.

1>2>3

you like minigames and shitty friends, I like soaring through the air in the simple yet perfect vertical level design with no FUCKING NIGGER ANIMALS STOPPING ME EVERY OTHER SECOND GOD FUCK I HATE IT SO MUCH

To me the only thing dragging 2 down is that the collectibles feel too homogeneous, what with every single level being 400 gems, and enemies just being a kill count (though levels having their own powerup was neat).
I also always put me off how... angry Spyro looks in 2

Goddamn I have never seen a more incorrect post.

>I really don't see how you could have 3 as your fave but hate 2
2's sidequests are mostly dogshit and 3's aren't mostly dogshit, it's that simple

Also 3 is a much bigger game as well.

Fuck everyone I liked enter the dragonfly

2 doesn't have anything as bad as the subpar animal buddies, skateboard racing or sparx levels

For me, 3 took everything about 2 and added more meat and variety to it. Some may call it backtracking, but I felt that having to go back to previous homeworlds and levels once you rescued the animals ,along with the addition of the Sparx levels and Hunter missions in the speedways, added a sense of discovery to the game. Sure there were secrets and off the path discoveries in 2 as well but I just like the ones in 3 more for some reason. Maybe it's nostalgia or some other reason that I can't articulate at the moment.

While Ripto and his minions were my favorite villains of the trilogy, I still liked the darker plot in 3 much more. The baby dragons being in danger, the animal characters being unlocked after essentially paying for their ransom, hunter getting captured, Bianco going from good to bad, the Sorceress being an absolute psychopath, all of this was more interesting then the Saturday morning cartoon plots of 1 and 2.

Finally, I felt that the animal, vehicle, and skateboarding levels added variety. I never understood the displeasure people had toward them because not only did I never have a hard time with them but there's so much of variety of stuff to do that nothing really outstays its welcome. In fact the only mission that I absolutely hated was the yeti boxing. I can play through the entirety of 3 but by the time I get to Winter Tundra, I'm already sick of 2. I think the reason for this is because there's more of an emphasis on platforming and without the openness of 1 or the content bloat of 3, I just get tired of it.

Agreed, and they're still all great.

3 is the worst
way to many fucking shit mini games and shit playable characters
1>2>3
1 has best atmosphere in the way levels look and music, and its pure platforming with no gayness

That makes it memorable

i cant deny only spyro and sparx for gameplay would be too short lived. the game is realistically short as fuck once you remove them. it didnt need to be good, it just needed to provide options
