Neil Druckmann AMA

Hello, Zig Forums, I am Neil Druckmann. Vice President of Naughty Dog, Writer/Director of video games, abuser of characters.

Since you all seem so obsessive about my latest project, reveling in all the wonderful content and story elements that were unintentionally released, I figure I can answer some of your questions.

Why you forced Amy Hennig, a real woman, to exit "your" company and collabed with Anita, a cancer in this industry, about TLoU2? And why are you shitted on Uncharted 4's story?

Gimme the gep

Firstly, to address the situation with Amy Hennig, I talked with her quite a bit prior to her leaving, and there were no hard feeling on either side.

As for Uncharted 4, I feel like we were able to do some interesting things with that game. I know many people were upset at how we went with the story, but ultimately I think what we did was for the better.

Do you believe there's such a thing as tooicj "social justice", something here and there in a subtle fashion is fine, as it reflects real world more or less, but there is such a thing as progressive ideologies feeling excessive and forced.

Deja vu?

I believe in Social Justice all the way. Are there bad actors? Yes, but as a whole the progressive movement globally is doing more good than harm in my eyes.

This applies to games, as I believe they should be a one to one reflection of the society they were created under.

Why did you design that horrible final boss fight in TLOUII, both in terms of gameplay and narrative?

Why do you worship Anita like a goddess?

Why did you chose a DLC where Ellie is even younger than she was in TLOU1, to eveal her sexuality, presenting two underage girls kissing? Do you not find that the least bit creepy?

Why did you downsize the chest of Dina, compared to her mocap actor, but kept the gigantic schnoz?

Why didn't you have Nathan slowly get the upper hand over Nadine over the course of Uncharted 4, as is tradition with rival boss fights?

Thanks for showcasing and supporting Trans Community worldwide. Neil says TRANS RIGHTS!

I for one am excited for Uncharted 5: Drake's Transition. I'll be picking up the Ma'am edition.

"Naughty Dog" is such a terrible name for a business.
Nobody wants a naughty dog. There's only two ways to interpret the name. One being a dog which is misbehaving, chewing on things and causing problems. That's not great at all.

The second way to interpret is is a dog who is "naughty" in the sexual sense, which means their name is a furfag/bestiality reference. And that's even worse.

Before someone goes, "dude it's just a name lmao", let me tell you that it's NOT just a name. Your company name is one of the most important things there is, it signals who and what you are and can either make or break you financially. Would Nintendo have had the same success if it had been named Pretendo or Offendo?

A company name is important. And there's generally an expectation that the name was chosen for a reason. So why the fuck did they choose "Naughty Dog" of all things? With the paw print logo similar to the one women who fuck dogs get tattooed on their crotches, and their weird, creepy fucking puns about "being in the kennel", the echelon of leadership must consist of furries or animal fuckers. I see no other reason.

Hello Mr. Neil Druckmann.
Allow me to represent this website in welcoming you and assuring you that we approve and support your cause of giving trannychads the rights of:

1] Beating women in sports and taking away their prize moni to make the wage gap great again.
2] Beating women in vidya so bad that the only women who qualify for competitions are trannychads.
3] Raping women in shelters, getting kicked out, then vandalizing and defunding said women's rape shelters while the law turns a blind eye and even supports your mal- i mean trannychad privilege.
4] Taking away women's jobs and promotions because you as a trannychad are higher on the oppression olympics ladder.
5] Telling Lesbians that they are transphobic bigots if they don't take trannychad cock and that genital discrimination is transphobic.
6] Somehow managing to enter women's beauty pageants and winning them, thus completely undermining and sabotaging the self-esteem of women because a trannychad is better at passing off as one. Naturally also taking the hundreds of thousands in prizes for the Patriarchy.
7] The right to be sent to female prisons in order to bring justice to the injustice of womyn getting lighter sentences for the same crimes as men, by raping their orifices with trannycocks.

May you have a good day sir, and continue the good fight for the Patriarchy.

How you killed House in New Vegas?

Hi.
Seek help, Neil.

1. you can't write
2. you can't write sequels (big time)
3. this was obviously a careerist game for you
4. you're count druckula 'cus by all accounts you sucked the fun outta the studio by being a hystericalized moral prig all the time
5. get outta the industry + females have been the lead in thousands of games since their inception, stop acting like it's radical and new and fresh; it's condescending and trite, wow women exist neil, amazing, well done for this moral lesson you fucking slacktivist prig fuck

I laugh gleefully every day thinking about how unfathomably hard the organized erasure of masculinity and feminization of men backfired on the feminazis who now have men in dresses killing them figuratively and literally, and they cannot do fucking shit about it.

Don't forget teaching little girls to be inclusive with toilets and stop fearing the penis. Trannychads are our, Patriarchy's tool, to put women in their place. And when the tool has outlived its use it shall die from Prostate Cancer because it's a man after all in the end, which is perfect.

Hey Niel, how about you go into movies or politics? Since you hate video games and all you think about is shitty agenda. You are the reason why vidya will never be great again. Fucking cancer

Also stop trying to force the """maturation""" of video games by scripting them like movies or novels. Video games are unique amongst media in that it is a participatory event on the part of the consumer. It is not a glass-eyed exercise which requireth nothing more than sitting in front of a TV or monitor.
>"We don't use the word "fun" at Naughty Dog."
I think maybe you should, else why make a game and not a movie using your game's engine, which is what you did anyway and tacked a game onto it, such as one might include an easter egg on an old DVD release.

The fans all think you SUCK Neil!

1. Every gameplay element was carefully considered and designed. Like I've said other places, I don't believe games should be just "fun". Sometimes a player needs to be frustrated or upset to elicit the kind of emotions a developer intended them to have.

2. She is a wonderful human being, and a shining example of a person.

3. We wanted to deep dive into Ellie's romantic development, and picked a point in her life that best suited this. Some may say we unnecessarily put borderline CP in the game, but I prefer to think we are helping to further de-stigmatize LGBTQ+ struggles in a medium that lacks awareness of these issues.

4. Women of all types exist, and we didn't want to shame women of differing body types with a stereotypical, misogynist archetype of feminine beauty.

5. As I've stated previously, we wanted to do something unexpected and different, and I believe it turned out well.
Yes, TRANS RIGHTS! All day, every day!

Why do you feel that it's OK to bait consumers, using an established brand name and false advertising, into purchasing a product that you know they won't enjoy, and which wouldn't sell on its own merits, just so that you can ram your politics down their throats from what you believe to be the moral high ground?

>4. Women of all types exist, and we didn't want to shame women of differing body types with a stereotypical, misogynist archetype of feminine beauty.

Then why get a mocap actor with a huge rack in the first place? Was she just the first girl you could fine with a huge nose?

>Sometimes a player needs to be frustrated or upset to elicit the kind of emotions a developer intended them to have.
Sir are you aware that you are producing a video game? A medium defined by its ability to give agency to the player rather than simply provide a container for the artists voice? A form of entertainment that people have pre-ordered on the basis of a previous title which provided them with enjoyment and catharsis? A previous title carried by the strength of its likeable and relatable characters which your trailer misleadingly presents as the focus of the sequel?

Why do you think your opinions are more important and valid than everyone else you work with and everyone you are delivering your games to? Are you that much of a narcissist?

fuck off kike

I don't feel like we are baiting anyone, which would imply lying to them based on promises we quite frankly didn't make. TLOU Series is all about a world turned upside down, and we wished to further explore what this would mean in context of a post-apocalyptic society.
The actress in question had no issues with how we modeled her in-game character. Everyone involved did an excellent job.
I am well aware of the fact I'm creating videogames, in fact I'm the Vice President of a game company (if you didn't know) ;). The way I view it is that a developer should be true to their vision first, and they shouldn't water it down for consumers who don't truly know what they want. Think about Dark Souls and how that game defied so many established pillars of game design. Ultimately it stayed true to the vision of the developer, and in the end people came around to appreciate and celebrate what it was able to accomplish.

ok groomer

When did you stop beating your wife?

If Anita Sarkeesian asks you "Why isn't this character a woman?"
Then a member of your team asks you "Why did you change this male character into a woman?"
Why is the first question an interesting critique of video games and the second question a problematic opinion that needs to be surpressed?
