Why did one fail miserably while the other thrived? Was it just that the Wii U was an eyesore?

The Wii U wasn't portable. It was a pain in the ass to have to keep it in proximity to the console and have it charged.
Further, normies could not wrap their heads around the naming convention.
call it the Super Wii U
be sure to have the tablet AND the console in sight for the launch trailer
$$$
everyone knew that swtich is just wii u v2 with better marketing
I knew what the switch was
I didn't know if that black box pictured next to the Wii u was a regular Wii or an actual new console
The wii u had no games when it came out
>Super Wii U
why not just Super Wii
I can't take the Wii U gamepad further than 10 feet from the console. I can take the Switch anywhere, throw Animal Crossing and Pokemon on it and you've got your 65 million and rising unit seller.
(We) + (You)
it was obviously important in the naming convention for chicken tendies, so keep with it
>same specs
OP confirmed he doesn't know shit
THE 3DS EXISTS YOU FUCKWAD import to DOOM ASS NIGGER BITCH FAG pardon my french
Do you speak English?
Yet gameboy > gameboy advance was fine
>virtually the same specs
Completely different architectures for both the CPU and the GPU, and the Switch has much more memory.
Switch also has a much tighter thermal envelope and smaller power consumption.
They only seem similar because the Switch's more modern hardware lets them do more with less.
>same controls
Basically been the case for every game console since Sony took the SNES controller and slapped on analog sticks from the N64.
>even mostly the same games
>Why did one fail miserably while the other thrived?
Is this your first Nintendo handheld system? Nintendo has been re-releasing games from previous systems for their handhelds since they had previous systems.
NES games for the Gameboy Color, SNES games for the GBA, N64 games for the DS, etc.
This is a pretty great first post. The Wii U was a clusterfuck that was trying to pull itself in a dozen different directions and didn't get anywhere. In promotional materials you saw people playing off of the GamePad, using the Wii remote and nunchuck, standing on the Wii Balance board. You saw people using the GamePad as a remote control, you saw people using it as a TV guide. Just what the FUCK was the Wii U? Thankfully, Nintendo took the Wii U's strongest and most practical concept and decided to go all in on it with the Switch.
>same specs
Hahaha laugh at this retard
you pointed out that the advertising was shit, not the core concept of the Wii U, which was simply expounded upon for Switch
Gameboy Advance sounds like an Advanced Gameboy. What does the Wii U soundlike? The iPhone SE?
>Same controls
Nah, the right analog stick was fucking awful. Not to mention the cheap plastic case felt terrible. Just look at all the fingerprints on it.
because one looked like an expensive tablet upgrade for an old console while the other looked like a brand new system
it sounds like it stinks
The core concept of the Wii U was executed very poorly. Off-TV play was hardly the core concept for the Wii U, it was one of a dozen concepts they had and it was just as undercooked as the rest of them.
What's this meme lately that they have the same or near-the-same specs? We've known that's not the case since the thing released.
>virtually the same specs
unlike the wii u the switch doesn't use GameCube CPU+++++++++
>Not to mention the cheap plastic case felt terrible. Just look at all the fingerprints on it.
You know what, at least the fingerprints on the Wii U can be wiped off. I really fucking hate the material they made the Switch out off and because it degrades so fucking quickly I've stopped using the Switch in handheld mode. This is not my pic.
fool
Discoloration on gray Joycons. This picture also features a nice scratch on the bezel from the dock.
Don't get rammy with the dock next time.
Specs are literally meaningless numbers and letters until they render something cool on screen. The Switch keeps putting out Wii U games so you could be forgiven for believing they have similar specs.
Specs mean whatever I want them to!
None of these are my pictures. I haven't had any problems with my dock scratching the system since I jammed a fucking massive hard cover book in it, widened it up, and put strips of microfiber cloth on the rails inside the dock. Maybe Nintendo should reconsider what they make their consoles out of.
That is way too much effort and modification when you could've just avoided trying to slam your system into the dock like an ape like your picture did.
my system has parts with a higher number than your systems parts, they may be rendering virtually identical looking games but that higher number definitely matters!!1
Any port in a storm, eh? Fuck outta here.
I find it kind of odd that the Wii U's marketing fell for the same thing Xbox's marketing did with the whole
>tv tv sports call of duty
Like why was this even a thing, I remember Battlefield 3 and COD being advertised for the Wii U and stuff like Watchdogs and Deus Ex got releases.
a bit ironic that all the games Switch had for a while was nothing but Wii U ports.
It's less slamming it like an ape and more trouble lining it up and keeping it straight while you insert it into the dock. Combine this with the fact that many docks are defective and bend inward and the problem is a little more nuanced than not using force. But keep up the corporate cum guzzling, Nintendo has never made oversights in their design before.
>virtually the same specs
not so fast
>Discoloration on gray Joycons
try to wash those greasy dirty hands every once in a while.
>>virtually the same specs
The Wii U actually managed to run games at 720p 30fps. The Snitch can't keep that up even when docked. I don't get it.
