Confetti is the new paint. You earn it after battle. It's used to fix things and fill holes. doing so nets story progress and coins you only use for more expendable attacks. Combat is yet again a punishment. The game is yet again divided into stages with flag poles at the end. The story yet again revolved entirely around the gimmick. Characters are yet again surprised they are paper people doing paper things.

Why do these games keep using the same world tropes? You'd think it'd be easier to just come up with set-pieces that haven't been explored yet in the Mario franchise than straining to put an original spin on the typical plains, desert, ocean, forest mountain and lava themed worlds. but here they are, yet again.

between that and the flagpoles we've seen i'm incredibly wary that the fucking level structure is back with mild improvements instead of just axing the stupid shit altogether
