Will this game stand the test of time? I started with DaS. How different is it?
Instead of being able to jump you can climb up some obstacles, you can't do the R2 power leap attack, and the RNG grind+world tendency can be a pain. Aside from that it's basically exactly the same but with different/better animations.
According to Zig Forums this makes it incredibly dated but I'm pretty sure they've just never played it.

The animations in des are top notch. None of the dark souls games have good animations
If it turns out to not be real maybe I'll emulate it, hoping it gets revealed Thursday though.

I played it after having played bloodborne and it's my second favorite souls, anyone who thinks this is dated never liked the games to begin with

It’s VERY similar to Dark Souls 1. There’s no jumping, no mid roll, only sorcery and miracles (so all magic requires stat investments), the areas aren’t connected like in DaS onwards, and the bosses are a lot more varied and gimmicky. In a few areas I’d say DaS was a step down but in others it was a step up. If you enjoyed DaS then you’ll like Demon’s Souls too, they’re mechanically quite similar.

It's my favorite in the series. I used to go back and do a playthrough once a year until I got tired of dragging out my PS3. Some of the movesets are better than anything else the entire series has to offer. Great Axe is amazing.
