It was a good twist

It was a good twist.

what a nice twist, in the last game of the franchise that was supposed to connect the gap between peace walker and metal gear actually has nothing to do with anything and is pretty much just filler

*not

Back in MGS2, yeah.

I fucking love the mirror trope for some reason.

Yeah, I liked it too. It could've been handled better though. Also having to replay the whole first level sucked.

It's okay, not everything needs to be connected.

never played mgs and upon hearing "you're talking to yourself" in the first level I already knew what the twist was

Yeah it was a GREAT twist. Turns out you're the guy sitting in the background in the Ground Zeroes main menu. BRILLIANT twist. You're not Big Boss, you're a literal-fucking-who. Bravo, Kojima!

keefer literally spoiled it before the game came out, referring to his character as "bad boss"

what makes it good? what does it explain? the games lies to you at the begining, wich is the only think making the twist posible, but really why? how does this explain in any way outer heaven or bb return to foxhound? how is it that the patriots needed to clone big boss to make liquid and solid when a simple medic did just fine? how did he even learn cqc?

>in the last game of the franchise that was supposed to connect the gap
it wasn't supposed to connect anything, it was supposed to send you off with a sense of merit, that (You) - the person behind the glass - have earned everything you've accomplished on your own, and that (You) deserve the cool code name just as much as the guy looking at you from the screen.
But Your jaw is still firmly locked and You can't let the Naked Snake out of your mouth, even now, knowing that everyone involved wasted 50 fucking years for nothing, because bunch of autists completely misunderstood the last will of one dying woman, on you go clinging to the glamour of a super special person, who wasted his entire life doing something pointless.

why does he have the same voice? if they wanted a game without big boss as protagonist he couldve picked solidus, gray fox, Kaz or ocelot

>twist
literally everyone figured it out before the game even released but it was considered so fucking stupid and obvious that people refused to believe Kojima would be that much of a hack

In Kiefer's defense, he may have just been drunk.

Attached: keef.jpg (1280x720, 85.37K)

Kiefer was a much better Bibo than Hayter
I just wish he had more than 2 minutes of dialogue

then kojima failed because I DID understand the boss and no character will ever be truly of myself, no matter how autists like to explain the twist
no, venom is not me and everything he did was out of my control, there's no deep meaning in any of this

bb shouldve been solidus guy from the begining

everything was deliberately cut
you see it was all a ruse cruise

itțs just a game midwit kun

It was way too obvious
>Medic's head is not shown, had Kiefer's voice
>Why did I have to create this face if I'm playing as Boss?
>"You're talking to yourself"
>Liquid's DNA didn't match
A twist isn't a twist when I knew about it 20 missions earlier. An actually good twist would have been to subtly push even more in to that direction, and then just reveal it's hallucinations or fake memories from the coma. Or something. Something to really fuck with you.

or just don't do it

I guess Kojimba won in the end
I felt the fucking phantom pain

>make a character that exactly looks like a Big Boss
>even named character John (something like that)
>gets confused at the end
>and couldn't believe this was """clever twist""" that everyone was praise about

chico is quiet would have been a better twist

no. it wasnt. we didnt need a whole fucking game explaining why you killed Big Boss twice in the original Metal Gear games

>it wasn't supposed to connect anything, it was supposed to send you off with a sense of merit
And it couldnt even do that! It raised even more questions and left players with an iq higher than 50 actual feelings of phantom pain as it was literally unfinished as seen by the bonus content on a collector's disc. they also felt the need to retconned what was already established like why/how did Cobra Unit and Mantis have weird powers. "Uh parasites". MGS4 (despite how people feel about it) was a WAY better send off for a game as well as for the series as a whole. it LITERALLY brought all 3 major characters together (Solid, BB, and Zero) for an ACTUAL explanation of how things came to be and how NEITHER man (BB and Zero) never truly understood whatever message the Boss left behind.

Attached: comic509.png (650x2508, 422.53K)

No. It was trying way too hard to be "meta" and "epic" and makes no sense in the context of the universe. It's the most insanely convoluted and retarded way to solve a "plot hole" (Big Boss dying in MG1) that didn't need solving, considering how often this series retcons way more important shit.

Maybe I personally hate it because I made my avatar a really stupid looking black guy because I assumed it was just for the online bullshit, so when this twist happened and revealed that Venom had plastic surgery to make himself white and shit I was just laughing my ass off the whole time.

Everyone already knew the twist before the game was released, except everyone was hoping that the real Big Boss would still be voiced by Hayter

so you're contradicting your entire complaint then. if mgs4 gave you the send off you wanted, why are you bitching? Mgs V wasn't supposed to be a conclusion to the story that's been completely explained, as you said. We know where snake ends up, we know where liquid ends up, we know where big boss ends up. It was a goodbye to the players, the characters story is done.

Zig Forums called it based off the color of his eyes way before the game was ever released.

The only real worthwhile thing the twist did was redeem Zero's character. I appreciate 4's ending so much more after V.

Same although it was hidden away in optional post-game tapes, or literally just one tape actually right? Zero literally doesn't even appear physically which is kind of a bummer to me. But the actual content of the tape was pretty decent I'll say although it was kind of sad they never actually got to reconcile face to face (with both of them being like mentally there I mean)

what the fuck was the real big boss doing during all that time? if venom leads the mother base from MG1 and zanzibar land only kicks off after that, WHERE was he?

>solidus shouldn't have been a president that looked like big boss
>ocelot shouldn't have been a patriot/kgb/spetsnaz/cia quàdruple agent
>big boss shouldve never been both a mercenary and foxhound founder
>liquid was the inferior version
>liquid ocelot shouldve been a ghost posesion and not hypnosis
>nanomachines didn't need to explain some of the superpowers like walking on water, ceilings, controlling bees and shit
>venom snake shouldn't exist
>volguin died groznygrad
>zero and the codec guys were not the patriots, wich shouldve been and AI formed out of 12 old dead jews like initially intended
>big boss and zero never fought over boss will, whatever that was
seriously, the worst part of metal gear is the unnecesary retcons and twists

It really fucking wasn't. Predicted literally in the first trailer. Everyone here agreed it was so bad we decided to pretend it wasn't true and that it was some kind of giga ruse.
We went hoping to see what could make Big Boss change so much by MG and all we got was "it was you all along". One of the greatest disappointments of the century.
