So this is the closest thing we will ever get to a new Silent Hill game?
Why is Konami like this?
So this is the closest thing we will ever get to a new Silent Hill game?
They will show off the new Silent Hill remake at the PlayStation 5 event on the 4th.
June 4th PS5 event
>So this is the closest thing we will ever get to a new Silent Hill game?
I hope so. No more nails in the coffins needed.
yea, no.
>yea, no.
Why not?
because Konami owns the franchise you dumbduck and they are not giving it to anyone , especially not Sony.
>So this is the closest thing we will ever get to a new Silent Hill game?
I hope so. Let it rest in peace already.
>Why is Konami like this?
Because they're ran by boomers who hate video games, especially AAA ones.
Not to sound condescending, but every single Silent Hill since Silent Hill 4 has been outsourced. The new Silent Hill is also, wow, what a suprise, outsourced. That it is outsourced to a studio that Sony owns is really besides the point. There's nothing special about Sony.
>it'll either be revealed at this upcoming event or maybe it won't lol
>repeat for the next event
God I hate these twitter rumor faggots. On the rare occasions that they say something specific instead of the vaguest shit they immediately cover their ass in case they're wrong.
>Why is Konami like this?
Kojima sucked up all their resources and resulted in Konami releasing fewer and fewer games as they approached the release of MGS V. Now that Kojima is gone, they're slowly repairing the damage. They've been figuring out how to bring Silent Hill back for the past few years, along with Castlevania. They've been using Pro Evolution Soccer, their most popular series, to keep things ticking along while they figure out how to make the others viable. The new games lineup should be announced this year.
>acting like Konami gives a fuck about THE FRANCHISE
Please stop being a retard. All Konami cares about is profit and pleasing investors, if that means licensing their franchises out to Sony then they'll do it. Konami is fucking shit but if they can make some money they will.
This is a bunch of mumbo jumbo bullshit. There is no """damage""" to repair. The only thing kojima did wrong was not make mobile games with larger profit margins you stupid asshole.
This.
Just like Konami kicked out Team-Silent and kept SH's IP as a hostage, they also fired Kojima and took MGS' rights to themselves. And since the corp makes more money through insurance business and mobile shit, they don't even want to do anything with the IPs.
>This is a bunch of mumbo jumbo bullshit. There is no """damage""" to repair.
A lot of the other developers within Konami detested Kojima because he kept sabotaging their games by stealing resources. The fact he belittled the games made by the guy who later became President of the company was just icing on the "What goes around, comes around" cake. You are of course aware that Konami never really stopped working on AAA productions. PES releases like clockwork every year. Due to Konami fucking up every IP that wasn't Metal Gear, they had to start from scratch on stuff like Castlevania. The new Castlevania should announced this year. They have a new Bomberman coming, too. And of course a new Metal Gear, plus some remasters.
>Turned Otherworld Midwich into a generic ruin instead of "Midwich but it's in a dimension where people really love industrial fans"
Yeah I know it's tempered for the DbD universe but come on
That doesn't really make sense. Konami disbanded Team Silent due to waning sales. The series was in trouble ever since Silent Hill 2 was a catastrophic flop that almost killed the IP in Japan, resulting in Silent Hill 3 almost becoming a rail shooter. Konami hoped to give the IP a fresh take with lower development costs by contracting out to promising studios. It's the same reason Platinum are allowed to make games despite sucking.
Metal Gear was different. They fired Kojima and gave Metal Gear to the team. Kojima Productions were never disbanded. Metal Gear was always supposed to be handed over to the team around 2006, but Kojima kept coming back. Now that he's gone, it's business as usual. They closed Kojima Productions LA who used to make Metal Gear Online. That's why Survive was developed in-house instead of in the US. But they've had a new mainline Metal Gear in production since 2016. We should see it soon-ish. I imagine David Hayter's IGN interview later this month is connected. There have been persistent rumours of a Metal Gear Solid remaster collection, too.
>ot of the other developers within Konami detested Kojima because he kept sabotaging their games by stealing resources.
>he fact he belittled the games made by the guy who later became President of the company was just icing on the "What goes around, comes around" cake
Source?
>PES
Obviously the assembly-line series that recycle over 4/5 of the content stay afloat.
>The new Castlevania should announced this year.
You got lots of fancy new details. You an insider?
>The fact he belittled the games made by the guy who later became President of the company
Which was deserved, and the only reason he became president is because he made Konami a bunch of money off mobile gaming trite that is designed to have you open your wallet daily. Cut the bullshit. If Kojima wanted to he could develop mobile games too, but he actually believes in the medium as much more than that. The guy who became president thinks mobile gaming is the future. Also yes you mean those soccer games that appeal to fucking billions of soccer fags all over the world? Gee that truly shows a dedication go their franchise. You're a retarded Konami shill.
>Konami disbanded Team Silent due to waning sales. The series was in trouble ever since Silent Hill 2 was a catastrophic flop that almost killed the IP in Japan
Which again shows that the Nip-boomies didn't see the big picture and give jack shit about Gajin sales and general fame at the time.
>Kojima Productions were never disbanded.
And Baltics were never occupied by USSR.
If they really do MGS some real justice and fuck off with survive tier spinoffs forever I might forgive Konami but until then fuck you shill.
It's been five fucking years since he left and you're still blaming everything on Kojima. They could've developed and released several big games by now if they gave a shit. But the only stuff they've put out are incredibly low budget trash.
literally sinking KONAMI with his fox engine bullshit you can see the profit decline in 13 where do u think that profit was sinking they had no major projects apart from MGS V not to mention ground zeroes where they released a demo i bet they were fucking desperate
>Kojima
>Del Toro
>Ito
It was too good to be true. I'm still mad about it every fucking day.
>thinkign you can just look at yearly financials and guess where the money went
lol. dunning-kruger level 1000
You know there's a good chance that game is being made right now, right? Kojipro even posted tweets one day that very vaguely referenced SH.
Word is that Sony is very upset about death stranding sales and is basically gonna make Kojima make PT in order to make up for it. Which he wanted to do anyway, so.
>>Kojima Productions were never disbanded.
>And Baltics were never occupied by USSR
They became Production Studio 8 within Konami. I think they moved their desks from the left side of the room to the right side of the room or something like that.
>It's been five fucking years since he left
Do you have any idea how long it takes to make AAA games? It has been 6 years since the last Dragon Age, for instance. We won't see Dragon Age 4 until 2023 or something like that. 9-10 years since the last game.
>They could've developed and released several big games by now
No. Because Kojima draining resources killed everything except Metal Gear and PES. They've had to restructure and start over. Most of their current products would have started proper production around 2017. Coincidentally, 2017 is when they started shopping around for the developer of the next Silent Hill, finally settling on the Sony Japanese studio with the old Team Silent dude. You know, Forbidden Siren and all that junk.
>But the only stuff they've put out are incredibly low budget trash.
Pro Evolution Soccer is not low budget. And you just sound weird and bitter that they're taking their time making these games instead of rushing them. You're getting a new Silent Hill by the original team. You're getting a new Metal Gear by the original team. What more do you want?
Would Del Toro still be on board though? I remember when Silent Hills was cancelled he talked about how the experience he really soured his view of games and how he probably wouldn't come back to do one again. Of course he appeared in Stranding as a face model but didn't help write or direct it like he was going to with SHs.
I can see Junji Ito being keen still since he apparently didn't even start making art for SHs when it was cancelled, so he didn't have much to lose and get frustrated about.
All signs point to Kojima working for Epic Games now. The Silent Hill reboot is on track, though. It's being made by SCE Japan Studio. Or at least primarily developed by them. Konami are still holding the reigns.
>All signs point to Kojima working for Epic Games now
hahah where do you people get this shit that you talk yourselves into believing i just
Good question, a better question is, does it matter? What's he done since Crimson Peak, nothing
Kojima got an "offer he couldn't refuse". Rumour has it that he was unhappy having to hand control of Death Stranding over to Sony in exchange for funding. Sony also meddled in development, forcing some of the horror elements to be pared back. He's friends with Sam Lake, and Remedy's next two games are being funded and published by Epic, with total creative control, total IP ownership, and so on. Kojima has almost certainly taken Epic's offer. it's light years better than any publisher will give him. Other companies such as FromSoft have been approached, but we don't know how negotiations have gone.
next silent hill will basically be silent hills, renamed to silent hill 5 and with no reedus and del toro
it has to do with silent hill before it became a spookfest and the events that led it to becoming one. mostly having to do with the otherworld causing a crime-spree and the cult capitalizing on that to start sacrificing people. it retcons a lot of shit but excuses it because "alternate universe dude"
it's third person action/survival horror. not looking good lads. don't ask where i got this info btw :^)
who's the faggot and why should I trust a twitter faggot?
Konami is a piece of shit comapny that is mainly owned by Mafia, they're more concerned about panchinkos and gyms. Video games are not really a 100% sure investments for something like a Mafia, too much variance in returns, especially when you fired all the good assets and killed your main IPs.
>Good question, a better question is, does it matter? What's he done since Crimson Peak, nothing
Either way it would not bode well without him present to reel in Kojima. P.T. and presumably Silent Hills worked/would have worked so well because you had the two polar opposites directing. Del Toro as the seasoned constructor of horror and Kojima as the self-professed pussy who gets scared easily. Two unique perspectives which when mixed would have complemented each other perfectly to create a type of horror that would have been highly effective.
"Mario and Princess Beach" is what you get when you let Kojima do as he pleases without somebody to challenge or bounce off of him. Kojima-only SH might just not 'get it'.
>especially when you fired all the good assets
They do have the original KojiPro, to be fair.
>Do you have any idea how long it takes to make AAA games?
Kojima founded a company in December 2015, hired an entire team, developed a AAA game, then released it six months ago.
Meanwhile a hugely successful company like Konami with several teams and hundreds of developers make a AAA game in five years?
I have no idea why the fuck you'd bring Dragon Age up when Bioware was busy developing Anthem after the last game.
How is this a bad thing? Pyramid is in a game with Michael Myers, Leatherface, Freddy, etc. Isn't that a big deal that SH got picked to stand next to these guys in a game?
