>focus science and production in every city
>ignore all other elements of gameplay
>win
Focus science and production in every city
>he doesn't go for the religious victory where you can stack up on faith to fund your holy army
wew
Are you playing on immortal or diety? No. Now, fuck off
It's impossible to lose on lower difficulties
I wish diplomacy wouldn’t suck ass to the point where the AI is hardwired to screw over the player without any reason above the other AI that has been raiding your borders for in game millennia
talking multiplayer
Just like real life.
Yes, also
>"difficulty"
>its just a flat stat increase in resources for the AI
That's why I stopped playing Civ long ago. If you're smart enough you just discover by yourself a way to break the game, than it stops being fun and you move on to another strategy game.
this kek
They're actually really easy to manage. First, they will surround you with troops and then surprise war you if your military is below a certain line, which they will never stay below themselves. Get some melee units for military points, and also patrol your borders for a massive wave of ranged units so you dont get caught off guard. When you see an army, pay them money to war another player instead.
Religious victory is kinda shit unless you metagame it. The last couple civs will war you and begin to purge heretic unless you do the thing where you just stockpile missionaries in the last few civs and blow your load all at once. Purge heretic with military units is just too strong to play around normally.
>No mil
Dead
>No culture
Hahaha you stupid faggot
>No diplomatic favor
Dead
>No gold
Literally buying myself all of the other yields
>Settlerfags pretending their opinions matter
Immortal/Deity or GTFO
Enabling AI cheats isn't challenging either because the AI is utterly incapable of doing anything. But instead of fixing this crap they'd rather add more feature bloat to this mess of a game, so fuck off.
Why are 4x games so trash?
Spoken like a true casual who never even bothered to play the game. Even barbarians will kill your ass on Deity.
>focus science and production in every city
You only need 1 or maybe 2 production cities. Put it in a hilly region with a river so you can build Ruhr Valley, all other cities focus on gold & science.
because balance is based around a metagame. even though ai civs function on a wide variety of strats and adapt dynamically to the player, the player ends up 'learning' the game to follow a certain route in single player, which funnels the ai into a certain path and then counterplays that path. You could have AI that do not respond to the player but then you end up with civ 5 russia who just spends the entire game spamming settlers religious buildings and missonaries until he gets overrun by either the player or any military neighbor.
Civ 7 needs to spend 80% of its effort into overhauling diplomacy. It's by far the weakest part of the game and also the part with the most potential.
Also don't frontload all the ai difficulty bonuses and make them scale into lategame ffs. Why are the devs so stupid on this.
>Even barbarians will kill your ass on Deity.
thats because higher difficulties in civ 6 just tell every barb on the map to walk toward the closest player unit, even if they spawn next to an AI or CS city/unit.
so what's the most broken way to play this
Did civ 6 do anything to stop everyone from rage quitting the instant someone looks like they're pulling ahead?
Cyrus, Immortals spam, domination victory in classical
Scythia, horse spam, domination victory in classical
Mongolia, horse spam, domination victory in classical
Greece, hoplite spam, domination victory in classical
Germany, settle close cities, abuse hansa adjacency to multiple commercial hubs, spam literally any unit, win in industrial
Is this worth playing yet?
if you've played any online strategy game before, most people quit when they no longer have a path to victory even if they are not at the defeat screen. making the enemy quit is still a win.
Because 4X gameplay is just way too complex for any reasonable AI to handle well. There's AI mods for civ 5 that make the AIs smart and it ends up taking like a full 2-3 PER CIV to process each turn because there's just too much for them to consider and plan.
That's why they just keep the AIs dumb so turns process quickly, and give them stupid bonuses so they can be a threat solely via brute force.
Yes.
Why? Haven't played since Vanilla. Have they reverted the pants-on-head retarded shit like units taking an extra turn to move into rough terrain/over rivers yet?
Because 4x and grand strategy is the poster child for high complexity but low depth. Gameplay based around optimization instead of adaptability. A genre focus around adding more 'stuff' instead of more interesting decisions. Archaic game design mentality that hasn't even figured out how to fix snowball yet, which is a game design problem people have known for at least a decade already if not more.
What's the worst civ to play as?
I don’t much care about the war aspect of the game, especially since you can kite the enemy easily and there’s not tactical satisfaction to it, I’m just tired of the AI being programmed to be naturally against the player because otherwise it would expose how bad the diplomatic aspect of the game is
painting a big red target on your back and giving the AI all resources to basically cheat you out of anything is as fun as breaking your leg on purpose and running a marathon with it
>dude just war for attrition
>money?
>no problem take hansa
if you're playing singleplayer sure
Religion in V and VI is straight up not fun. Wow, a couple passive bonuses that become obsolete that you have to fight for and the ridiculous notion that you have to be the majority religion in EVERY civ, with no variance in gameplay at all because everything is this vague Abrahamic thing.
