Fires banned

>Fires banned
>Agent of Treachery banned

>Companions have an extra 3 mana slapped on top which makes most of them unplayable

Man, no matter how you look at it Wizards fucked up. So who's excited for Standard 3.0? Keep in mind Wizards assumed that Oko and Once Upon A Time would be legal.

MTG Is dead, the game is already starting the power creep net-decking BS that killed yugioh

>net-decking

Lol

It's not net decking if the correct card choices are blindingly obvious.

>Fires is banned
>Wild Rec isn't
Literally nothing changes

If you say a card game dies when net deck starts, then no card game has ever lived for even a second.

So can I finally play a Sharknado deck?

what a joke, Companion shit was one of the worst mechanics of all time, so much so that the "Storm Scale" should be renamed to the Companion Scale, because they literally had to errata a game mechanic across every card with it, to something completely different.

imagine making such a fucked up mechanic, where it has it be written out of the game.

>imagine making such a fucked up mechanic, where it has it be written out of the game.
Now if only they would admit their mistakes and do the same for planeswalkers instead of digging themselves deeper into that hole.

>they
Maro was solely responsible for this, actually. Play design was against the addition of companions.

Reminder that JotC made the Companion mechanic because Commander is becoming so popular that people are ditching the 60-card, 4yim format entirely

>w-we want the EDH audience!
"No!"

edh is so boring though
the game takes too long and players don't even try to take the game seriously after a few turns

and then they fucked it up so badly that they had to change the mechanic entirely

Planeswalkers are attackable Enchantments, they are only as powerful as the abilities on them, and can be "killed" in numerous ways.

it isn't the Planeswalker card that's the problem, its the design of each card, making Oko and Teferi is a singular failure, whereas plenty are just fine, ALA Elspeth Sun's Champion and most of the Sorin's, powerful, but never format warping.

what does it mean by my 'starting deck'

if Play Design doesn't get to stop such things like this (which wrecked every format) then Play Design might as well not exist, it means their hands are tied when Idiots are above them decide otherwise.

do you think it makes WotC seethe that they can't control Commander banlists?

welcome to every corporation ever.

sheldor is 100000x worse than wizards

I haven't played Magic in a long ass time but I do keep tabs on it and I feel like in the last two or three years I just keep fucking hearing about cards or mechanics absolutely assraping the game and all I can think is, fucking hell at least when I remember old shit that broke the game hard enough to need bannings it was either one card here or there, or a very short period of lots of broken things that they quickly got on top of to avoid killing the game outright. It was never this drawn out.

the deck you have to start with every round, say you go to a major tourney, your 60(or more) card deck has to stay the same as what you put on the tourney list, you can't decide you want a different card from your sideboard permenantly swapped.

MOST of the standard banned cards of the last 3 years weren't broken beyond belief.

they were just really annoying, which makes it flabbergasting with the Raptor got banned.

Is MTG as bad as YGO now?

yeah, that card is actually very meta and highly used

Ramanup Ruins and fucking Rogue Refiner getting banned will always be fucking hilarious.

the playtesters all turned into drooling morons at some point in the recent past

You have no clue what makes fires good and rec bad. Zig Forums is literally shitter incarnate at mtg and posts like this prove it.

>already starting the power creep
bro, the powercreep began years ago. this is just another next step
Mark Rosewater said that in a few years we'll look back at Companions fondly because some new thing will be raping every format

Just when I thought wizards could never possibly top the Oko fiasco even if they tried lmao

>rec is bad
Get the fuck out of here pretending you've ever touched MTG in your entire life.

what do you think it means, dummy?

rec is a good card it's just not able to compete with agent cheating.
Now that agent is gone and fires is also gone expect ladder on arena to be a fuckton of expansion explosion decks because it's the cheapest bullshit on the block again.

no, it's worse, because Konami at least has the decency to reprint powerful "staple" cards

you know you have absolutely fucked your format when that picture happens.

FUCK the new legend rule

This actual shitter thinks he knows anything about the game. You have no clue, you probably play virgin arena instead of chad paper magic. What formats do you play? Brawl and Standard only? Your scope is so limited you probably don't even know how ApNap works.

Go ahead and explain to the thread why Rec is a bad card.

>t. Once won a fnm

Watch out! We got a badass over here!

I just fuck around in forge now, quest mode is fun
>maro was solely responsible for this
do we know this for sure though?
In the past he's always gets defended with that "but he's just a figurehead, it was Hasbro's idea!" shit
wotc turning it's evil eye to edh was a bad thing for the format imo
companies making community managed things official and then getting their greedy hands in it is almost always bad

can i get a quick rundown?

>fgc ruined by jew money
>now edh

FUCK

>DUDE LET'S TURN EVERY FORMAT INTO COMMANDER LMAO
Fuck them
Commander is the shittiest format

Oko is so powerful that turning a Black Lotus into a 3/3 ability-less Elk is the correct way to play vintage at the time.

really wish they didn't design around time wasting decks
yorion such a garbage fire to play against in standard
as bad as esper control or jace

yeah, I'm surprised people don't bring the comparions up more often, in the video game community people tend to be much more wary of it
printing shit with commander in mind was a dumb idea. And now they just came up with a cycle of free shit when your commander's on the field

>Fires banned

Fair enough, it made it so any deck had to build around fires existing. I welcome it. Now decks will be less stiff and more felixible.
>Agent of Treachery banned
He wasn't a great card at 7CMC, but Lukka, Yorion and other cards that came along with Ikoria made him horrible as he could be rushed out far more quickly than intended. Poor Agent, but also fuck him i'm sick of seeing him resolve..
>Companions have an extra 3 mana slapped on top which makes most of them unplayable

This is GOOD. Now to have that extra 8th card in your hand from the start you need to actually pay for it. It's sad that cards like Kaheera and Hippo Macrosage are gonna get slammed by this because they really did encourage some good deck building strategies. Umori especially was fun. But it's a needed sacrifice.

People that talk about net decking are actually just saying 'the most efficient deck' for that standard. Can you net deck Modern? Sure but there's way more variety and it's less effective than just knowing the game well.

When you know the game well you netdeck.

Oh shit they actually did errata the ability just today
fucking wow
I can't believe people defend wizards man
