Haters gonna hate, but you're 100% right. All of those are soulless opportunistic slop. Even EA is a far better dev than Valve at this point. They've made at least a few half decent games this gen like Jedi Fallen Order, Titanfall 2, and A Way Out. Perhaps not amazing masterpieces, but they at least put in some amount of effort. And Valve even took their crown of worse monetization scheme of all time with Artifact.

They made some legitimately great games in the past but even they acknowledged it in their interviews about Alyx - they wanted to know if they could still make a good game and were surprised when it turned out well. So a decade of hypersuccess from issues unrelated to making video games has taken it's toll on their psyche.

I'm hopeful they will return but they are still focused primarily on gabe's pet projects of VR, esports, anarchist economics, etc. so you can probably expect one new single-player game that nobody can play in the next 10 years.

The only way we can ever expect Valve to start making video games is if Gabe is removed from his position. We need Gabe gone from Valve and replaced with a proper CEO who actually gives a shit.

That's the thing though - it cuts both ways. Without gabe at the helm any other retard there would have caved to pressure both in positive and negative ways. Gabe went over the heads of everyone to say explicitly that edgy shit and porn games have to be allowed to be sold on steam and to take a more hands-off approach to community content.

The socialites that have climbed up the ranks by being inoffensive clay to wouldn't have good judgement either.
