I’ve found myself not giving a crap about anything else and loving video games a whole lot more

Who else thinks this?

Considering the stuff that is going on in this timeline, I’m finding that playing Paper Mario is pretty soothing, to say the least.

>a series RPGs
>1. Super Mario RPG
Ambitious RPG based on Super Mario. Expands upon Mario lore and setting to a large degree. Introduces the platforming elements, timed hits system, and general storytelling themes of future titles.
>2a. Mario Story
Sequel to SMRPG. Fleshes out the standards Mario world and tropes into a well-written story while integrating elements from its predecessor, themed as a storybook. Introduces a modified approach to the party system, combat, and exploration.

>4a. Super Paper Mario
Effectively a spin-off of the main series, but it's the final game to include elements and influence from SMRPG. Tells a new story contained in an alternate dimension. RPG platformer hybrid.

>bombed
Sticker Star is the second best selling game in the whole series/ Just behind Super Paper Mario.

I will not apologize for liking Sticker Star and Color Splash.

it's also the most returned nintendo game of all time

It bombed critically. Sales in series like this are determined both by marketing and by the previous game's clout and quality. TTYD sold well because 64 was great, SPM sold gangbusters because TTYD was great, SS sold well because SPM was good, and CS bombed because SS was terrible. CS was mediocre and had bad gameplay, but it wasn't as bad as SS, and OK will likely do better than that at least.

Where do they even let you "return" games? They usually operate on a buyer beware basis to avoid abuse.

Expect TOK to do well just because it's on the Switch and we'll still be under fucking quarantine.

I wouldn't ask you to. You're entitled to your opinion as is everyone. Just because I think those games are a massive downgrade doesn't mean I dislike you for enjoying them.

I'm the opposite. I've liked video games less since they became a homogenized and watered-down hobby accepted by mainstream audiences and injected with recurrent revenue business models. I still like some new releases, like Trials of Mana and Hollow Knight, but most of the time I only like to play older games I can enjoy with someone else.
Escapism is fine in moderation, but it doesn't feel right to me unless there's someone else having fun with me, or unless I'm honing a craft, or learning something new.

If Bug Fables doesn't eat into its sales too much.

Y'know we never get these fucking cubie bait threads in non-U.S. hours

I get where you’re coming from. Old video game and consoles are cool, but PC gaming is going to be my go-to once the new “consoles” come out.

Only thing I can’t stand right now is the constant pandering due to this happening.

should have at least been the W emblem palette swap for the gag

two of these games are the same. can you guess which

BIS and DT

>non-U.S. hours
what are the official non-non-U.S. hours?

>If Bug Fables doesn't eat into its sales too much.

I think you might be high.

as shit as OK looks i'm completely convinced its going to do gangbusters
literally the only reason color splash sold like shit was because it was on the wii u

Then just be ready to hang from the gallows at dawn

It's ok. Plebs have always existed and will always exist

It's euro prime time right now

It's a Switch game for Paper Mario fans released during quarantined.

>literally the only reason color splash sold like shit was because it was on the wii u

Even then it probably would have done like 2 million if it was released early 2015 like Mario Party 10. Rather than on the WiiU's deathbed.

liking it is one thing, thinking they're better than the originals is another
i like super but i understand why a lot of others don't and i sure as fuck am not putting it on the same level as the first two

It's not even on the eShop download only charts. Xenoblade DE is more likely to cut into TOK's sales than Bug Fables.

i don't think theres an actual, signifigant overlap in the buyer bases of bug fables and origami king
if you're actually interested in BF the odds are you have zero in OK and if you think OK looks good you likely don't care all that much about BF- at least to the point you'd buy one over the other
the more likely situation is you're a fan of both gameplay types and would buy both of them, cutting into neither's sales

It actually did make it up there briefly but it's getting pushed down by shovelware that gets shit like 1-cent sales to artificially boost downloads. Nintendo should exclude anything less than $5 from the bestsellers.

Yoshi's Crafted World, Pokken Tournament, and BotW at least broke 1m sales after that time.

>Paper Mario Sticker Star outsold the original and The Thousand Year Door
>An international multimedia corporation follows the money instead of appealing to a literal minority
>Paper Mario Color Splash takes Sticker Star from a 5/10 to a 7/10
>This is somehow hard to understand

Attached: 1590643909996.png (960x956, 1.24M)

saying stickerstar was even a 5/10 is fucking generous to an extreme
why should i applaud improvements on dogshit? why can't we just get something functional?
its like saying the DMC fanbase would have been happy with a DmC: devil may cry 2 instead of just getting another proper game. i wouldn't have wanted improvements on that garbage i just want another fucking proper game.

It's on the bestsellers page though.

>bring up sales
>change argument from sales to some vague statement about quality because cs bombs

Based disingenuous poster

Everyone and their mother loves Thousand Year Door and Paper Mario 64. We just get tired of contrarians thinking the 3DS and Wii U versions are not as any good as stand-alone versions.

Those were still 2015 games other than BOTW. The WiiU's software sales basically fell off a cliff edge in 2016 when Nintendo said "Yeah the NX is coming".

I think a bigger indicator of sales is the console that it's on, although I won't deny the effect of the previous titles on people picking up the game without looking at reviews first. The Wii sold like crazy which is why SPM sold so well. The WiiU was a flop which is why CS sold so poorly. The Switch is a very popular console with lots of casual fans so TOK is probably going to sell really well.

Pokken was a 2016 game.

>"proper game"
>2 out of 6 games in a franchise that only constitute 1/3 of global franchise sales as well as 1/3 of the total games somehow is the design sheet for the whole series
They're two independent points you illiterate cunt
>Why can't I ruin my playthrough? :(
You can't ditch most key items
