Series with humble beginnings becomes the cash cow for a soulless company

Yes it has... Thank you for reminding me about it.
Yeah...
Yeah, because the Fallout series was in such great hands before big bad Bethesda came along.
Blame Interplay higher ups for ordering this retarded shit instead of funding Van Buren.
No. Instead, my favourite franchise is forgotten by Sony and has been resting peacefully for 20 years. To be honest, it's probably for the best knowing the state of the games industry right now
>Humble
lmao, trying to jew the GURPS system, rushing the game and the sequel delivering a bugged unfinished mess, twice and then
>Bethesda managed to de-throne BOS with Fallout 76
But Fallout became only better after Bethesda. Seethe more boomer-doomer
Fallout 1 was literally the only good game in the series.
>11/10 soundtrack
>World feels apocalyptic and not like some theme park
>Intro perfectly sets up the dark tone and manages to convey how bleak and hopeless the world is
>Game is depressing and really made you fear the atom bomb and its effects
Then 2 shat all over that with DUDE 80S MEMES LMAO
Same user, better be dead than a rotten, walking corpse.
Humble beginnings instantly throttled by it's sequel in a downward spiral you niggers never shut the fuck up about.
I say that having things I like about the whole fucking series, as fucking stupid as the whole thing is.
>Then 2 shat all over that with DUDE 80S MEMES LMAO
Why do people continue to further this myth that Fallout 2 was nothing but pop culture references? The amount of pop culture references are seriously overblown and only make up a fairly small part of the game.
no one cares about games that take themself too seriously you dumb autist
I really hate Fallout fans. Biggest bunch of faggots on the board.
still more tolerable than smashfags
kek
Going to happen to TES fans when new game comes out.
I'd rather have a sequel with its own identity than one that tries to retread the same stuff done by the first game.
Also, Fallout 2 is really unique in the series with its focus on humor and makes a nice contrast with 1's seriousness.
And seriously, who would hate its soundtrack.
youtube.com
>implying it didn't already happen with Skyrim
Fallout 1 is basically just a demo for Fallout 2.
>no one cares about games that take themself too seriously you dumb autist
Yeah thats pretty true
fallout wasn't bethesdas original IP so of course its a labrat for them, whatever sticks in fallout will most definitely be in elder scrolls
>Fallout 1
>Establishes that nuclear war is terrifying in how quickly and efficiently it can decimate human life and civilization as we know it
>Fallout 2
>haha mad max reference go brrr
>oblivion*
There's not a single Mad Max reference made in 2 that wasn't in Fallout 1 already.
In fact, you can only find Dogmeat in an easy-to-miss random encounter while in FO1 he's one of the first obtainable companions.
Fallout, Elder Scrolls, Doom, Wolfenstein. Shit, these are the first I remembered from hat, and all bethesda's shit. There's more, obviously, but shit, think about it: how many good series bethesda has destroyed?
You're not getting the point. The point is that Fallout 1 had a bleak and empty world and it felt like you had to struggle just to survive. It was a brutally honest look at nuclear war and the consequences of it. Then 2 gave us talking Deathclaws and a deus ex machina in the form of the GECK because Black Isle lost their nerve and wanted a generic action game.
Beth started the meme of the GECK being some magical bullshit that can do anything when in reality it was just some box with some seeds and some tips on house construction.
It originally was what the C.A.M.P is in 76 is now.
Yup. When Yakuza games started to become extremely rushed pieces of shit with content cut and even more assets reused than the series once did, I knew the franchise was dying.
Yakuza 7 only affirms that belief.
People always counter with "b-b-but Fallout 1 has pop culture references to!" but it's so disingenuous because anyone who plays through both games can attest to the fact that Fallout 2 literally has over 5x as many pop culture memeing in it than Fallout 1.
I got sick of the 50s shtick. Gimme more 90s post-apocalyptic punk
As I wrote in the previous post, the different tone of 2 was an infinitely better approach than trying to recreate the bleakness portrayed in Fallout 1. The game was set decades after Fallout 1, so there was no reason to show the same destroyed world once again. The lighter tone helps to convey that progress, but I can understand if there's people that don't like it.
Talking deathclaws and friendly super mutants may be stretches, but I don't think they clash that much with the robots and energy weapons taken straight out of Flash Gordon from the first Fallout. After all, the sci-fi aesthetic is an integral part of Fallout and talking monsters is part of that too, the game even gives an explanation for that.
Also, about that Mad Max post, seriously the humor of Fallout 2 is more about breaking the fourth wall than making pop cultural references. I don't know why there's this misconception that all Fallout 2 does is referencing Monty Python and Star Trek.
Truth is... the game was rigged from the start
Yep, it will happen
This is why I only play the most autistic games
