Anyone else have a less retarded answer?

lmao Kermit poster, please kys

That's the most realistic answer you're gonna get. Everything other argument can be boiled down to "autists who don't want to upgrade to an objectively superior game because it lacks the glitches they're used to"

Because insane people that refuse to move on and are stuck in the past.

>People play old games all the time still
>yet people get pissed off over melee
Like I never see anyone getting pissed off over someone playing a speed run of Super Metroid. So why is it that that people care about Melee being played?

See

because they know deep down Brawl 1, 2 and 3 have total garabage gameplay

Because everything was designed around how sakurai vision, new smash games are designed for online players and dlc characters.

designed around sakurai's vision*

Because a competitive multiplayer game isn't the same as a singleplayer game. Each singleplayer game has a unique campaign and just because you've played the new one doesn't mean the old one isn't worth playing. It likely has completely different story, gameplay, and content. With Smash, on the other hand, basically all the content from Melee is in Ultimate and then some. Every character and most of the maps- at least those that people care about- are in Ultimate. It's an upgrade, not a sequel. It's like still playing one of the old counter strike games in 2020 instead of CS:GO or still playing Splattoon 1.

Just woke up and laughing at your stupidity. Thanks lmao

one word.

GAMEPLAY

Yeah it makes no sense, people regularly play and prefer old versions of fighting games all the time like 3rd Strike, TTT2, MvC2, UMvC3, etc. and no one cares.

Ultimate has more content but the mechanics are fundamentally inferior and it lacks depth compared to Melee, that's why people go back to Melee. It's the same reason anyone goes back to older fighting games, simply because they prefer the old mechanics.

I like it because its faster than Ultimate. I don't play competitive tho, that's for faggots lmao

I don’t think you’re knowledgeable enough about the series to make such an assumption. Every Smash game plays different, and no other entry in the series plays even close to Melee except unofficial mods like PM, P+, and whatever the Smash 4 and Ultimate mods are that were made to emulate Melee’s gameplay. Regardless, they’re hardly “upgrades” or even considered such in any capacity because people very commonly have favorite individual singleplayer, multiplayer, and collectible aspects across multiple different installments.

>mechanics are fundamentally inferior and it lacks depth
I fail to see how Ultimate's mechanics are lacking in any way. You can now do tilts out of dash, the air dodge isn't broken in anyway but not almost useless, air attacks pretty much auto l-cancel, and the neutral in Ultimate actually is pretty good.

Really the only real issue is the buffer is way too large but I find games having a small buffer to be an important thing to them so I find it better than N64 and Melee's lack of a buffer which pretty much requires you to learn how to play around that or the game feels stiff until you do.

it's a faster game with more combos dipshit

>Implying Ultimate doesn't have combos
early stock is pretty much putting 40% on a foe, then playing the neutral til you can land a ko move

>Melee and Ultimate are the same experience
damn I didn’t know Melee had pngs, 70 Fire Emblem
Characters, and a horrid buffer system with shit netcode!!!!

You bought Ultimate, FP and FPvol2, all Mii outfits, and three years of NSO, didn’t you?

>20 years later
The fuck are you talking about?
>Release date: November 21, 2001
Oh my fucking god feels like just yesterday I was eating cheeze itz and drinking cherry kool-aid while fighting on big blue.

You can legally drink with Melee next year, fuck

>can't say you like anything in a new smash game at all without bitchy fan boys attacking, even if you like the old games still as well
This is why people assume you haven't showered any time recently user.

As for miis, fp2 so far no, and didn't get nso for all 3 years

Aside from the buffer, the movement options are completely different. Momentum is butchered compared to the earlier games, and as a result everyone moves in a slow and sluggish manner.

I don't know if it's the input lag or hitstun or the new balloon movement or the netcode or if the characters are unpolished because there's eight billion of them now or what. Ultimate just feels horrible. Like, basic movement and attacks.

No theoretical complaints. Melee and Brawl mods are fucking far from perfect, and I've been ready to move on for years. But Ultimate just never feels like it's there. Maybe it's as good as everyone says, but it ain't for me.

melee just has more combo potential than ultimate

Melee is simply more fun. for an in-depth response the video posted here is really good.

I'll admit I don't really get why they removed momentum the way they did beyond maybe just the fact that it gave speedy characters more advantages than they already have. As far as movement options though considering how characters like Sonic have spin launching and so on I don't see how that is much slower.

Really the only one who I think is hurt the most from this has always been Falcon, but he was good in 4 and is ok in 5 (where is main issue is that his turn around is stupid).

I see people doing 0->deaths in ultimate just as well in Melee user.
