Can't believe Kojima ruined the perfect opportunity for a complex hero turned villain story ending with a reimagined version of the first Solid Snake vs Big Boss showdown in favor of a silly twist. It could've been one of the greats instead it's just a pretty fun open world stealth game I guess.

it literally could have been THE greatest game ever made, but the project was poorly handled by Kojimbo leading to the game being cut drastically short and his story was a kick in the teeth. The story was so bad in fact that I was relieved that the game got cut short because the writing was so awful.

I'm not going to disagree that the story was awful, but it took me 250 hours to complete the main story because I was enjoying fucking around and the main missions were the least interesting part of the game.
If I hadn't been enjoying the game I wouldn't have played it for that long because I certainly wasn't doing it to see where the story would go.

It gets a lot more fun once you start setting your own restrictions on the items you use.
Which in itself is a sign of bad game design making the player figure out how to make the game fun with no incentive from the game but it's a lot of fun when using minimal gear and abstain from using all the OP abilities.
The GZ map was certainly better than TPP, no arguments there. But they also charged 20 bucks for that single location so it kinda makes sense for it to be so polished.

I played GZ for around 50 hours. Honestly I wish TPP was more like it and used a selection of varied small maps, sort of like Hitman.
Playing on such a dense map really made you have to learn every little detail if you wanted to master the game, and by the end you really felt like an Operator.
