What monitor does Zig Forums use for gaming?

I've searched for 1 week, still didnt find anything worthwhile. I want a 1440p 144hz ips monitor, but apparently all of them have problems. I was thinking about lg 27gl850. Should I just stick with a 1080p 144hz ips monitor? I only have gtx 1060 6gb but I'm gonna build a PC when the new gpus are out, so I would've prefered if I got a monitor that I was gonna use for that PC as well so I dont have to buy a new one.

It's cheap but it werks.
Wait a bit before 1440p/144Hz actually becomes viable and more mainstream so they become cheaper. Next gen of GPU's should take care of that.

Would you recommend just getting 1080p 144hz ips monitor for now, and buying 1440p one later down the line? I wanna spend around 1200$ for the PC build later this year, so I would hate to spend fucking 500$ more on a monitor, whereas now my dad can buy me one for 500$ or so.

is the problem with IPS panels in general? I've heard that the images on ips look way better but you have to play panel lottery a lot apparently because there is 0 quality controls and a lot of them are faulty. Any help Zig Forumsros?

Best money i've ever spent on my PC.

IPS glow is what you are referring to.

thats a really good one, but I dont really need a 4k one right now, I think 1440p 144hz is enough for me. As i said, I only have a 1060 6gb laptop for now which I will have to use until the end of the year when I build a pc. Is it bad to get a 1440p monitor for this laptop?

samsung g9

some cheapo old thing, been going strong for a few years now

i just ordered a 27gl850 for 500$, upgrading from 1080p 144hz VA, seems like the best buy

it seems good, debating on getting that or the lenovo legion Y27q, but still, did anyone try gaming on a 1440p monitor with 1060? Is 1080p that bad?

>thats a really good one
Cost more than the gpu and I bought a goddamn radeon VII. Still monitors are one of the least upgraded parts of a PC and the monitor market itself isn't fast moving so it will be many years before something substantially better for my use case comes along.

>Is it bad to get a 1440p monitor for this laptop?
As long as you understand the performance you will get it is not inherently a silly idea.

Side note: never, ever buy a monitor that isn't freesync or at least gsync compatible (if running Nvidia) these days. Adaptive sync is a real game changer.

for sure, I'm buying an adaptive sync. Like I said, I tend to lean towards lg850 which has both gsync and freesync I think. I think I'll go with this one, and just play older games in 1440p or something, or lower settings on newer games. I'll be fine I think, thanks. One last question, I saw u need a minidisplay port to display port cable in order to connect to a laptop. Does it have to be a specific one? I searched a lot online, I'll go to some shops today or tomorrow, but there arent any specifications on it, if the cable is 1.2 or 1.4 or something.

Yep, this is as good as it gets for now. There's even an Asus and an HP using the exact same panel.

1.4 is the latest spec and supports the most amount of bandwdith.

yep, but I have no fucking idea where to get it since with minidisplay to dp, in my country it doesnt list what type it is. Fuck my shithole country, you cant find information on anything. Fucking monitors dont even have model numbers most of the time, they just get listed as "1440p 144hz lcd monitor" or some shit. Im so fucking mad , ive been searching around for a really long time already

mpg341cqr
3440x1440@144hz with unlocked black frame insertion from 144hz to 90hz with 0 motionblur/smear (can go as low as 75hz native BFI but it doesn't look great, but it's still better than many monitors locked at 120hz BFI or doesn't even feature BFI at all because normalfags don't understand what that does)

Ag273qx came out late last year and i'm pretty happy with mine, not to be confused with ag273qcx which is the same piece of shit as every other curved 1440p VA.
I'm used to VA panels but i know a lot of people hate them, personally i can't live without the VA blacks.

Well if you are only going to drive that monitor 1.2 will do the job. Reading the specs on wikipedia 1.2 is good enough for 4k @ 75hz.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DisplayPort#Refresh_frequency_limits_for_standard_video

I'm using some korean 3440x1440 100hz va panel, can be overclocked to 120hz so I can get 60fps with no motion smearing with BFI.
It's pretty nice.

this is what I'd recommend. You can get a 1080 144hz for less than 200 bongs now

holy fuck I searched around for 1 hour, every online shop, and none of them have specifications about what type of cable it is. I have to look in the comments, and there generally is only 1 comment that says it can only output 4k 30hz, and is 1.1. THERE ARE 0 1.2 or higher minidp to dp cables in my shithole country romania. God just burn this shithole to the ground already.

lg34gk950F
1440p@144hz curved, ultra wide, freesync, hdr400 , ips the whole meme bullshit
the freesync works great with my 1080.

was the best available gaming monitor at the time when I bought it.

Based, that must have been an amazing deal
>120hz so I can get 60fps with no motion smearing with BFI
Too bad that does produce some doubling of the image if your eyes tracks an object. But it's still useful. I just really wish the manifacturers would allow 60hz bfi like they used to. Seems like today only Ben-Q still allow it, but only on TN.

I've been trying to find a good monitor that is 1080p and is 144hz, or around there, with Gsync.
I've got an Nividia card, and I heard you can't use freesync with them, which sucks because its incredibly cheaper.
I found a few monitors, but they're from unknown brands, and the last time I did that for a monitor it had some weird lighitng issues and a weird screen.
Anyone got any good recommendations for a more affordable 1080p 144hz gsync monitor?

>I heard you can't use freesync with them
You can now. Anything Nvidia has tested and works they label as Gsync compatible. Anything they haven't tested is "here be dragons" and may work or may not as some older freesync screens were a bit of the wild west when it comes to obeying the spec.

nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/products/g-sync-monitors/specs/ Filter by gsync compatible.

Paid $390 for it and had it for over a year now.
Also has a USB hub in the front.
One of the best purchase I've made.

>nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/products/g-sync-monitors/specs/
Oh fuck, thats actually sick. Yah, I was a little worried I could get only gysnc, since its usually so fucking pricey.
I just droped almost $800 on my GPU, I'm just trying to get a decent monitor that'll hold me over until I can save up for a really good one, since the one I'm using now is 1080p, 60hz, and about 6 years old. So much ghosting, and it looks like absolute shit.

If there are so many of you ultrawidefags, why don't you ever post in screenshot threads?

I'm busy playing and working and the pics are sometimes too big for Zig Forums and I have to cut the res anyway

Acer KG271U 27" WQHD 2560 x 1440 75Hz. I fucked up at the store, meant to get the 144Hz. I'll get a 144 when I finally get my second monitor

I bought a XL2746S two days ago and have a 2720 from before that. If you care about image quality on desktop i cant recommend any of the BenQs but for gaming (FPS, Mobas and related autism) they are really good.

Was pondering a IPS panel but they just dont look good enough in a dark room.
