>game has a crafting system
>it's worthless compared to gear you earn other ways
Game has a crafting system
YUH
Why do they do this?
Its another episode of devs seeing the success of open world survival games and think that craming a crafting system into the game will make it sell more
Its all so tiresome
Witcher 3
Divinity OS 1/2
You craft the witcher sets, don't you? Lots of useless shit too but I don't think it compares to the barren divinity crafting system.
If you can craft better things, than you can find, where is the point in going on adventure?
I think terraria had a really good balance of this. Generally speaking your weapons and miscellaneous gear are better found than crafted, but you can rarely find armor. However, for the more late game armor sets you still need to go out and find specific monsters to kill in order to get a drop required to craft the armor.
Finding the ingredients to use in crafting.
>YOU'RE INJURED
>FIND SOME CLOTH AND MAKE A BANDAGE
>BANDAGES HEAL A LITTLE BIT OF HEALTH AND HELP STOP BLEEDING
how many games
You're retarded if you think the stuff you earn in Witcher is better than crafted sets.
God I hate this.
Only crafting I really enjoy is when you can craft permanent upgrades (like more health or carryweight)
I was going to say this
>Game has crafting system
>It is more efficient, less time consuming and easier on your item management to just buy what you need from the store.
the fucking AI
>crafting UI is fucking shit
>all the ingredients are shown as a big wall as just the items and you have to hover over for the names
>X3: Albion Prelude
>Want to build a capital ship from scratch using the Player Headquarters
>99,472 x Energy Cells
>4,144 x Ore
>3,108 x Teladianium + Silicon Wafers
>2,072 x Rastar Oil
>2,072 x Microchips
>1,036 x Cloth Rimes + Quantum Tubes + Computer Components + Crystals
>all that shit literally costs nearly the same as just buying it from an equipment dock
>takes 58 hours, 46 mins, 58 secs IN REAL LIFE to build
WHAT THE FUCK WAS EGOSOFT THINKING
>game leads you on an epic quest to gather all the materials to craft the legendary equipment, instead of passing it down from another hero of old
Shit makes me diamonds when done right.
>buy that epic equipment at a store for high price
>find same equipment from a world drop soon after
Good. I don't want to grind endlessly for dragon testicles so I can craft my armor. I just want to buy it at a shop and actually play the fucking game.
>Game is an MMO.
>A lot of the content is solo only.
Why even bother making it an MMO in the first place?
>Game has crafting system
>Recipes are obtained via books you can get from stores/story battles
>Generally a good way to make better gear than what you can pick up at the store
>Store eventually stops updating past a certain level range
>Now have to use gear dropped by stronger enemies
>Recipes eventually run dry
>Books for high end gear upgrades can only be obtained as drops from specific generic enemies in specific areas
>Game never gives you hints about where you can find them
>They also have low drop rates
what would you rather have user?
>boss has a drop pool of items but it's % based
>killing boss drops resources so you can craft exactly what you want but he drops enough materials to make few items/weapons/armors and you get some extra to spare, you can make a lot of items with resources he drops
>game has crafting system
>the best two armor sets are only obtainable by maxing crafting skill
>otherwise worthless
>game has a crafting system
>surprisingly in-depth for how simple it is
>gear you get from it is pretty good
>it's still worthless compared to gear you earn other ways
>game has a crafting system
>you don't craft gear but upgrades
>can make broken weapons in early game with Bao-Dur
Make open world shooter games with zombies/bandits
>add hunger bar
>add thirst bar
>add stamina bar
>add sleep bar
>add temperature bar
>add comfy bar
>add happiness bar
>add sanity bar
>add bladder bar
>add horny bar
>add sadness bar
Ship it straight to steam as a survival games
Thoughts on crafting systems that create items which aren't strictly better than what you find but offer fun features or gimmicks that can't be found among normal item gets?
>horny bar
>comfy bar
I'm interested
Sounds like Rimworld with a couple of mods
Literally, the only thing developers need to do to fix this is to make gearing complicated.
If all you have to do to gear up is to pick the biggest numbers, then of course you will never equip 95% of the gear in the game.
>cr*fting/c**king
>open world
>weapon degradation
Red flag thread?
Actually, they could just do what Minecraft did, and just make every piece of gear craftable.
Finding gear in the world is the exception, not the rule, which makes the experience of finding better gear something to be eagerly anticipated, and a more consistently fun experience.
