Bros, I just want to say that I am loving this game. It was what I was expecting, more Shenmue. I know it feels like a 10 year old game, but it’s a good one.

Good for you
>it feels like a 10 year old game
what does this mean? that it has potential to be good?
As a fan, I really loved and enjoyed this game. That is, until I beat it and was devastated by the poor and rushed story, sure you had all the Shenmue-like activities plus a bit more side-quests than usual and you could excuse the okay-ish combat, but the story was so embarrassing it makes me question what will Suzuki do with the 4th game giving that most likely he will have the same budget, time and team as with 3.
Wait, it came out? When did that happen?
Are you dense? He means it plays like its dated as fuck but it is still enjoyable.
like 8 months ago on PS4 and PC Epic Games store
I'm a huge Shenmue fag, but I'm not buying this after reading there isn't a hint of a conclusion. Like why?
Also coming to GOG and Steam this November.

And I'm going to guess for Xbox One too.
Why are you pretending to be a fan when it was known after S2 came out that Shenmue will be made out of at least 5-6 games? Suzuki clearly stated that 3 will be only a continuation, not a closure.
Yu Susuki said he planned at least five Shenmue games minimum back in the 1990s. Story has always going to be unfinished after Dreamcast flopped. But Susuki still want to follow his original plan he had for Shenmue. Maybe two more games to go. What's wrong with that?
I also loved 3. In the middle of my 2nd playthrough right now and am still in love with it. Shenmue 4 would definetly be an initiative for me to buy a PS5.
So what's the Shenmue story?
I know that guy wants revenge for his dad's dojo. Did the director really think that was good material for 6 games?
Just fail a QTE and pretend it's the ending
It’s just a hero’s journey.
Because he won't have the opportunity to do what he always wanted, you think we will see a Shenmue 6?
Shenmue - 4/5
Shenmue II - 4.5/5
Shenmue III - 3/5
Why they have to get rid of grab throw moves? Also keeping health and stamina linked was annoying.
Yes.
I'm tired of people acting like shenmue 3 feels like 1 and 2. Fucking stamina system alone kills this fucking game
saying a game plays like a game from years ago is fucking weird
I hope so too but... I don't think so
At least we will get S4 (possibly even on UE5) right before Suzuki kills himself as he will be unable to upkeep his favorite Ferrari.
I tried the game back in November and dropped it because of the stamina system. Just gave it a second chance this week, gave it two hours to max out stamina with training/scrolls and another couple hours to make money for food. Had no issues after that.
It's one of the biggest 3D open city adventure games. To simplify it to one sentence, yeah it's a revenge story but has many many sub-plots in it ,as well as some optional hidden scenes. It's not exactly 1 hour B-Movie revenge flick but you can treat is as such since the game is open and allows you to rush through shit as you see fit.
I think you can easily beat the first game in like 4 hours but if you want to see each event or just be autistic and fill out your notebook you can play up to 8-12 hours.
Second game is even longer and larger in scale and has some hidden things too.
So the dude who killed your pops is like the best martial artist in world.
Game 1 was unveiling the mystery
Game 2 was that kung-fu kino. With your typical b movie tropes. With the best final fight in vidya where you take on a dude 5 times your size. That final move where you remember what your hot mentor taught you to legit drop the guy, chills.
There’s a lot of things people expect from open world games nowadays, given that it’s the most expensive genre to develop.
They expect: Smart character animations with a realistic blending system, facial capture or top tier graphics, “modern” minimalist UI, lots of land to explore, lots of side quests, and most of all “state of the art” graphics. I mean this game was released after RDR2 and AC: Odyssey.
Remember that Shenmue 1 was released before GTA III and Shenmue 2 before San Andreas, these games were on par with the generation (And Shenmue 1 was ahead) on terms of technology and content, not like 3.
This was my GOTY for 2019. I know it was light on story and character development, but damn if it wasn't a beautiful and fun journey.
Didn't the creator of Shenmue say he wanted the story to be about 9 games long?
No. That said he's obviously not a "huge Shenmue fag" if he played the first two and thought there was any possible way of wrapping shit up with one more game.
I think he was talking about Chapters, not games. Each game can have several chapters.
Yeah, think I've heard both 11 and 16 chapters. Shenmue 1 only covers the first chapter, but it wasn't supposed to. The game just kept getting bigger and bigger within that small section of story.
Chapter 2 was covered in a book, it was the boat ride between games.
It was possible by completely changing the story he had in mind
