how easy is it to play my psp roms on a psp go or psp og? I am seriously considering getting one, as life is getting back to normal and I do a lot of travelling.

get a switch and retroarch

get a switch instead

just play them on your phone moran

you can just put soft custom firmware on your sd card, boot it up and you're good

go fuck yourself that's not what he asked.
Its incredibly easy to install CFW on a PSP or PSP go nowadays and downloading the games is piss easy. You might want a file organizer plugin if you're an autist like me and want it loaded alphabetically and not the order you dropped the games in.

My nephew has a switch and that shit is fuck huge for what I want to travel with. That's why I ask about the psp. what about the Vita?

Yeah call me back when the Switch is hackable purely by software means

do you want sources for CFW on a psp ?

This

It's good and comfortable (the sticks are more comfy, but are very easy to break if you don't take care of them), it can play psp and ps1 games in a much better way with mods and dual stick support.
Buy one if you find it in less than 165 dollars.

I do not have a psp anymore and I have been looking into buying one before I go full steam with it, I just wanted to know if it was possible. I did read some forum posts about it and it just seems like the best way to take Tactics Ogre and Yggdra Union on the go.

It's really easy but in my opinion, it's easier to load up PPSSPP on my phone than using the actual thing. I travel for work a lot and prefer taking as little with me as I can. Do you have a decent phone, OP? If you buy some sort of controller for it, it might be better than getting a PSP.

I read about that too but I am ALWAYS on my phone for business. I can't do that... also, I fucking love physical buttons.

go for a regular PSP then

It's as easy as downloading the cfw, running it and then downloading game's iso. Follow a recent guide.

I prefer physical buttons too, I got one of those as a result. But if you're on your phone for business, I totally get it, a discrete device would be better. I'd personally recommend the Vita over any PSP, it was a lot more comfortable to hold and you can use SD cards if you buy a cheap SD2Vita.

Keep in mind if you add PS1 games the file that contained the eboot needs to retain its SL code. so SLUS-154878 or whatever the shit. Homebrew games can be named whatever same for any emulator you throw on there it will be in the same file location as your ps1 files.

PSP Go is fucking terrible, the battery life sucks and the wifi is retardedly slow too, just get a regular PSP

Psp hacking was notoriously easy. If you can't figure it out you never deserved to.

That said I was extremely sad when my psp go died a year and a half ago. Really great system imo. Might not be the popular consensus but the recessed controls felt good and the screen was really nice. Probably my favorite dpad on any system, something about how smooth it was the input on. If travel is what you are trying to accomplish get a go.

If you ever buy a 3000 or Go their cfw aren't permanent meaning you have to reinstall them again when you turn it off. But there's a relatively new hack that makes the cfw permanent

My dad did it 10 years ago, so I'm sure you can do it now, user! I highly recommend FF7: Crisis Core.

oh fucking yes, that's what's up. thanks for that.

so if I go with the psp og, going with a 1000 and 2000 seems the way to go?

I'm not to interested in ps1 games but that is a good tip.

I owned all three. You'd want at least a 3000. 1000 is too heavy for long sessions unless you're in a good position. 2000 is better but with 3000 the screen is brighter has wide color mode and its protective glass has anti glare.

just take the joycons off and you've got a hack tablet

? so the cfw is permanent for the 3000 model? I am reading this and it does read like the cfw can be permanent now

1000 - permanent
2000 - some models are permanent. Some models need semi permanent cfw or it will brick
3000 - semi permanent or brick
PSP Go - semi permanent or brick

After installing the cfw you need this to make the above psp cfw permanent. You could also install semi permanent cfws on older models too.

I had a PSPgo and it is good, but the battery suck ass.

I dont remember how the cfw was installed, its one where I turn on the console, its perfectly normal, it had a random game in it (prince of persia I think) the console crash and reset, then it get access to all my games.

okay, thanks for the info. is the Vita a good option for playing psp roms?

just get one of these, psp games probably run better on your phone than on a real psp

A CFWed PSP or PS Vita is a stellar handheld to have, especially on travel. I had to start doing some travel for work last year and my Vita has been a lifesaver. I loved my Switch for the first couple trips, but it ain't pocketable, the battery on it has gone to hell, and I've gotten tired of a lot of the games on it by now.

It's very expensive even if it's used, and games would run better and a much higher resolution even on a phone
the vita is a good pick only if you're interested in its native library
