I had a PC, N64, PS1 and GBC by the end of the 90s, and gaming mags were the #1 source of vidya info. EVERYONE knew about the Expansion Pak in 2000, and that you needed it to run the last great games on N64: PD and MM.

Turok 2 was sub 10 fps with the expansion pak and was unplayable. Hell perfect dark ran better without it if you just wanted to play multiplayer.
