you can just adjust the settings to have plentiful resources, making gunfights and shit possible throughout the whole game, and skip cutscenes I guess. Only thing that would be in ur way at that point are the calm scavenging/traversal sections which can be pretty boring unfortunately

You can only hold someone for a short period of time before they shake you off which is fairly accurate in my opinions it takes a few seconds to asses how strong the person holding you really is especially considering she is holding a knife to your throat. I believe Abby can hold people longer haven't tested it though.
