>in-depth discussion of not just rpgs, but every genre of gaming
>a few of the members are developers who offer valuable insight into game design
>actual enjoyment and appreciation for classic games instead of just mindlessly jumping on the 'it's so old it's clunky shit' train that Zig Forums is guilty of
>can discuss the ideological issues of gaming without jannies showing up to delete topics and ban users every 5 seconds.
I wish I had found this forum sooner. It's such a breath of fresh air. It's so refreshing participating in discussions where people actually know their shit instead of Zig Forums, where Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect, are considered the pinnacle of rpgs.
RPG Codex
>Zig Forums, where Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect, are considered the pinnacle of rpgs.
???
RPGCodex is one of the last holdovers from web 1.0.
They're also one of the only vidyja/tabletop/neckbeard sites that hasn't been taken over by simping nu-males.
>RPG Codex
I dislike the forum format. For better or worse I've been on Zig Forums for over a decade and I'd rather just brush up on my nip and lurk futaba than go to another English site in the current year.
this, forums are absolute cancer
having a name attached to your posts is bad, you'll always gets those forum vets who get fellated by everyone
Yeah I only really use forums for super specific shit with no other medium, like the Pine Barrens forum. Other than that there's really no reason. I discuss random shit here even with the constant degradation of quality, or I just talk to friends. It's kind of strange that the internet at large for me has turned from something where I talked to literal strangers all the time to a place where I only talk to close friends outside of this specific website.
>???
Dunno about Mass Effect, but there's literally daily threads on Zig Forums jerking off DA:O as "the last good wrpg" while shitting on stuff like Divinity and Pathfinder.
RPG Codex is elitist as fuck from what I remember but thats what makes it so good.
>having a name attached to your posts is bad, you'll always gets those forum vets who get fellated by everyone
This.
The Codex is better than most other places on the internet, but it still comes with the same problems as other namefag forums.
>It's kind of strange that the internet at large for me has turned from something where I talked to literal strangers all the time to a place where I only talk to close friends outside of this specific website.
exactly the same for me actually, i found my current group of friends on /jp/ back in like 2010 or 2011, and nowadays i mostly discuss vidya and whatnot with them and only use Zig Forums to talk about stuff when im really really bored and nobody's around
this website has really gone down the shitter recently, ive been thinking about just stop browsing it but ive been here since 2007 so its kind of a habit to come here
>in-depth discussion
they only ever discuss about how every new game is part of the decline
Any forum above 100-200 users is bad.
Whenever I see a forum about CRPGs/D&D I immediately feel like it must be a shithole of SJWs and degenerate trannies and furries. Is my spidey sense right or wrong bros?
>this website has really gone down the shitter recently
Yeah it's pretty bad. I thought it was recovering for a little bit but the last few months have been awful. Blatant twitterfag memes and constant bait threads. Maybe it's just summer. I mean something as large scale as Last of Us would have blown Zig Forums to shit for a little bit at most points in its history, but the whole board has sharply declined in quality very recently.
They're almost as autistically negative about everything as Zig Forums. Unironically get more actually interesting discussion of games on Kiwi Farms games forum.
Hahahaha what fucking cucks
RPG Codex and Zig Forumsirgins overlap a great deal. Zig Forums is where codexers go when they're done pretending to be reasonable.
its just tiring to see people just shit on games for the sake of being contrarian and earn cool kid e cred
Zig Forums was always seen as a den of negativity but people used to not be so obsessed with every game failing and whatnot, the shitposting nowadays is just boring if you ask me
?
I'll clarify and say that I think Lou 1 and 2 are shit, but it's the fact that such a high percentage of threads on this board are people arguing about it that I don't understand. The game does not have enough content to argue about it this long. You should know if it's shit or not at this point.
rpgcodex?
More like rpgCOPEdex,lmao!
oh yeah of course, i never cared for those games myself and dont see the appeal at all, but yeah why do they need a thousand fucking threads for so long, shit's beyond me
i guess im starting to get out of touch with today's internet or something
>having a name attached to your posts is bad
you fuckers are simply scared to being called on your bullshit. you love Zig Forums because you can shitpost and then pretend to be another person. that's why it never reaches the highs of a pseudonym based forum, because anons simply won't try providing well thought opinions. It's easier to shitpost, complain and misconstruct all the time. So all you have left here is guys quoting your post with a soijack, so you re-quote his quote with another soijack, and so on until everything here resembles a chimp interaction.
Wrong this time. The Codex is pretty balanced.
>you fuckers are simply scared to being called on your bullshit. you love Zig Forums because you can shitpost and then pretend to be another person.
>every poster is a low IQ retard that unironically enjoys trash like planet escape borement
>you'll always gets those forum vets who get fellated by everyone
This is Codex. Good look being respected by anyone or getting told you're anything but a newfag no matter how constructive your input is unless you've been around for 5+ years, and even then if someone with an account much older than you simply deigns to call you a fag, you'll be bombarded with shitty little emotes parroting such.
Then they are based and correct.
Except you have places like Reddit, where'd qualify over 90 percent of posts as shitposts. Assuming your definition of shitpost is "low quality post meant for attention"
Whoa user you made a great point but my post count in the quintuple digits vs yours in the teens shows that anything and everything you have to say has zero weight!
reddit is specifically built to go for the lowest common denominator with its voting system. it's not like an old school message board at all.
I will never understand how people even use plebbit. Even when someone links to it on this shithole I get lost. The UI is a complete mess, not to even mention the absolutely obnoxious community.
I've never seen that happen on rpgcodex, the most I see is join date elitism where someone quotes a newer member's join date to imply they're newfag cancer followed by someone older mocking the join date elitist.
