Dedicate the d-pad to summoning Nightmare, promotion and DTing Griffon and Shadow, instead of having a bunch of double inputs. Give Shadow some lateral inputs so it has more moves available right away rather than having combos. Add divergence and don't require you to play all missions in order on each difficulty. Make Vergil playable. That's about it, I think V is mostly fine as he is, he could be expanded somewhat, but that's a way bigger deal. Best way to make people not dislike something is to not force it upon them.

give him a few more moves so it doesnt feel so repetitive and smash heavy and add a "manual control" button to move your boys instead of having them hitting the air long enough for them to walk towards the enemy like you wanted too. It could be as easy as a weapon switch from dante but instead of changing weapon the camera just follows shadow or griffon instead so you can more directly control them. Making Nightmare a bit better on the field instead of just a nuke when he arrives would be nice

don't reveal him as a "mYsTeRiOuS nEw ChArAcTeR" who is clearly Vergil, say the game is going to exceed expectations, and then have zero mystery or subtlety about anything that's actually happening in the game

if the pre release threads are anything to go by, V being vergil was anything but predictable, sure people figured out urizens identity early on but V was still a question mark with multiple popular theories (he was mundus or mundus son etc)

they couldve given him the ability to absorb a bosses powers megaman style as is standard with the series, imagine V with a horde of demons at his command, they dont even have to be fleshed out with a whole moveset, they can just be unique combo modifiers to complement shadow and griffon.
