>hyped by journos and players >"a game we will talk about for generations!" >get it on summer sale >its literally just a typical standard corridor shooter, with typical standard telekinesis gimmicks The fuck? Did people really got blinded by the "original" setting and story that they completely overlooked that this is one of the most generic games in history?
Also, whats up with developers writing all fucking in-game internal documents as if they're written by dudebro students? >pick up Super Secret Document #23 >Hey ya'll I just wanna say that the stunt the IT guys pulled last week almost cost ya'll your jobs. But I put in a good word. Yeah I know I'm totally awesome! You can thank me later. Cheers! It happens it almost all fucking games these days. And its making me SICK!
Anyway, is this game ever progressing past PS2 game tier of running through corridors and shooting shit, or can I drop it?
If you're already past halfway and still feel this way, drop it, it's not worth it. I liked the atmosphere and the narrative style. The gameplay gets incredibly boring in the second half with increasingly large hordes.
Grayson Jenkins
do the side quests
Carson Scott
This. Remedy hasn't made a half-way decent game since Alan Wake.
Parker Cooper
This game was made only to benchmark ray tracing. Nobody gives a fuck about the characters, gameplay or the story. It's just for the ray tracing.
Angel Hall
Quantam break was pretty good
Thomas Wright
This. One I realized that I con back to certain locations and find new phenomenons and weird SCP-like kind of shit, the game grew on me a lot.
Lol Stop, I can already see the bullshit from here
Jaxon Anderson
It runs like complete ass.
Noah Butler
it's literally just a tech demo and Sam Lake's SCP fanfic
the story and lore were decent, though
Lincoln Jackson
>final "boss" is just waves of enemies >all actual bosses besides the first are relegated to side quests what did they mean by this
Jayden James
anyone who sees this game and thinks about scp instantly reveals themself as a zoomer. supernatural government facility has been a trope fucking forever. scp was just a mediocre crowdsourced attempt at it
Jacob Martinez
its only good as a tech demo, especially with dlss 2
its just quantum break 2 without the shitty television show aspect
Jack Lopez
>anyone who sees this game and thinks about scp instantly reveals themself as a zoomer. the devs literally cite it as as main inspiration you moron
Evan Collins
PSN
I'm actually "only" at the part after picking up the Hotline and proceeding into the maintenance area. But I already bored gameplay wise, and I dont see any indication that its different from what I've seen so far.
If I keep playing, I'll definitely do that. But right now its become one of those games that you're about to hit "play" on, but stop because you're just not feeling it
Carson Miller
Eh? I’m pretty sure it’s a nod to the Asgard building in max payne, all the Norse references and it being older than Parliament House
Mason Fisher
>hyped by journos That's how you know it will not be that good
Brody Cooper
>one of those games that you're about to hit "play" on, but stop because you're just not feeling it You just described 95% of the games I try.
Chase Young
Except it wasn’t hyped by anyone
Jaxson Allen
it's not ALL inspired by that building, but the devs do cite it as an inspiration for the Oldest House.
Jeremiah Ortiz
It’s a ten hour game, just beat it on a weekend.
Andrew Mitchell
OP here again. One thing I wanna add is how this game is really terrible in terms of exposition. The moment you meet your first NPC she's already telling you the ABCs of the whole situation.
Its like some anons here say: its just a tech demo and they didn't even try setting things up properly.
Obra Dinn and Outer Wilds were the last games I truly enjoyed.
Ian Carter
Yeah well I just think there’s more internal parallels with MP Doesn’t it run like shit on the PlayStation?
I remember the MC being touted as a big push for female leads, did she do much in that regard? What’s her name actually? I only ever see her referred to as man-jaw.
Brayden Bailey
I found it quite good. Not game of the year by any means, but good. No idea what they were all smoking last year that this won over Days Gone, Jedi: Fallen Order, or Fire Emblem.
Benjamin Allen
Jesse. She's kind of flat as a character but so is everyone else in the game.
Daniel Russell
I got at least 20 out of it another 8 out of the DLC
Gavin Sullivan
I mean, there's a couple direct Alan Wake references and I think it's even getting a whole Alan Wake DLC so I wouldn't be surprised if there's a few winks and nods to other Remedy games.
Ryder Ward
>We're in an age of gaming where you have to tell people side quests are part of the game
Is the world IQ dropping?
Tyler Moore
Nope, it's crap the whole way through. The only redeeming qualities are James McCaffrey and Alan Wake's actor and the float ability you get.
The story has no conclusion, you never get cool weapons, nothing fun happens. Drop it now. It's fucking trash that's full of bugs.
Aaron Bennett
>did she do much in that regard? She was kinda ugly/plain, so that's what she did.
Nathan Walker
Would there be any difference if she were a man named Jesse?
Nicholas Williams
>PS2 game tier of running through corridors and shooting shit, or can I drop it? Lmao back to assassin's creed, kiddo
Bentley Miller
>this game is really terrible in terms of exposition Ah, I see you’re not a fan of David Lynch or subtexts
Luke Nguyen
I don't understand the thought process behind this game. 99% of what you read about is much more interesting than what you do. Iirc, there is a document that implies your weapon shapeshifts to a form that fits the time, and that before it was a gun it was Excalibur and Mjolnir. You have fucking Excalibur in the palm of your hand and they turn it into a gun that is also a small shotgun, a small sniper or a small machinegun. What the fuck.
there's one little bit towards the end that I think would work better for a girl character but otherwise it wouldn't make a difference
Ian Gutierrez
I don’t know if you know this user, but guns are more powerful than swords
Zachary Reed
The more I read the more this sounds like a tech demo for a game that became the game.
Jack Turner
The game actually has a sorta-meta discussion on that, with how her brother is named Dylan and they could have easily swapped names, genders, or straight up combine the two characters without the plot changing a whole lot. Honestly, all the dream discussions with Dylan were peak.
Jack Flores
don't even pretend this is Lynch-tier subtle
Christian Martinez
The Service Weapon changes form based on what the collective unconscious deems the most powerful weapon of the age. Five guns in one with unlimited bullets would be considered much more powerful and versatile than a sword in the modern day
Levi Butler
>Ah, I see you’re not a fan of David Lynch or subtexts Actually, I'm a huge fan of Lynch's work. I don't know what Lynch has to do with needless exposition in a generic corridor shooter though.
Evan Perez
>have a gun that can become LITERALLY ANY WEAPON >can still only equip two forms at a time
Nolan Wright
Not really, FPS wise its fine, and visually its fine too, except for the occassional texture pops
Nicholas Cox
My biggest gripe with the game was how lame the enemy variety was.
Levi Moore
Yeah that's another point. Everything I encounter in this game is something we've all seen a hundred times already.
"Possessed" military isn't exactly something that puts me on the edge of my seat in 2020. Oh here's another variant: now they have shields, wow.
Joseph Parker
if you're not into the lore docs there's no need to go on
>man-jaw don't take Zig Forums discussions to heart dumbo
Oliver Cooper
i stole it and i couldn't stomach her ugly ass face and inner monologue, lost it 40 minutes in when they introduced the blonde dyke physics looked cool, gameplay was meh
Tyler Foster
At least we got DYNAMITE DARLIN'
Nathaniel Garcia
My point is that they took a shape shifting legendary weapon and made it into a boring gun. They took a shapeshifting building and the most I remember was that they twist some rooms a bit, also it's bigger on the inside, whoopty-fucking-do. They took the whole catalog of SCP, and I don't even remember seeing a non boring humanoid enemy outside of that shapeless thing that killed you if you touched them.
It's like they took everything that was interesting, relegated it to collectables, and made the rest of the game out of the scraps.
Nathaniel Jackson
At the end of the day, coomers opinions are worth less than shit
