>Zig Forums hates the CRPG genre now
What the actual FUCK happened?
Zig Forums hates the CRPG genre now
bump
Only played UnderRail, thanks for introducing me to the other 3
We grew up.
>we
Zig Forums loves Original Sin 2 though :^)
stygian is bad, so is torment
CRPGS have been niche forever and most of v constantly talks about them as if they're some sort of gods given genre to gaming when they're not and even conpare them to other sub genres of rpgs and calls them bad even though were never supposed to be that way
they'll never die but that doenst change most people who do like them on this forum tend to be a bit autistic and cannot handle other game genres existing
I just want a space opera crpg why does the world refuse to give it to me?
>not a single one of those games are better than baldur's gate 2
if you can't do better than a 20+ year old game, i think that counts as dead. underrail was cool but nowhere near the quality of a classic era crpg.
UnderRail is a bad game, not sorry.
Only like fallout 2, I get bored by generic fantasy shit
>trite slav fallout clone
>interesting setting marred with bad content and a terrible rule system
>shit
>bad
There's nothing worth saving in the genre. Let it die. Even Adventure games are going better at the moment.
only age of decadence is good the rest is shit in that picture
Since we're talking about CRPGs, what's the deal with Atom RPG?
People were talking about it a ton when it got released but talk fell off hard. I haven't even heard anyone mention it in well over a year. Was considering buying it.
It had a surge of popularity, and as such Zig Forums had to get a hateboner for it.
Storyfags happened
they made like 1 good one in 35 years
The eternal summer was never longer than during the pandemic
Only Age of Decadence Is good from that list
>Want to finally give Pathfinder Kingmaker another try since it surely must have been fixed 2 years after its release
>Figure the steam summer sale is a good opportunity to try it out
>Check its store pages
>3 different DLCs
What the fuck? Is this what's happening to these types of games now? Are any of them good enough to actually justify buying them or should I just buy the Seven Seas edition instead out of spite?
just pirate it
Anyone try Encased? How is it?
>We grew up.
into what?
the dlc are actual extra content not locking shit up from the main game
None of them are intresting, but they have some feats and classes baked into them, and the best girls.
A superdungeon that is pretty blah, and a kinda-but-not-really prequel campaign that you wont understand anything about if you actually play it before the main campaign. Wildcards is the only one i would actually urge you to get.
Don't play Torment, fucking sucks Play Planescape instead.
I kickstarted and followed it for years. I was stoked because of who was making it and the talent behind it. The game did not live up to the hype. So much was cut and what did make it in was half-assed.
So they're mostly just optional post-game stuff or do they also contain separate side content that can be done at certain points during your playthrough?
>game includes expansion dlcs with new campaign
>"how dare these devs provide additional content, I'm going to pirate!"
you can skip the false pretense and admit you just have weak morals and want to steal something that people worked on.
Why did you lump Numenera in that pic?
Yum yum corporate cum
Direct quote by you
Isometric cameras are and always will be unimmersive and unengaging.
In all honesty, i don't enjoy vidya anymore, so all i have is nostalgia to fill the void.
New games are still shit with SJW tranny sprinkles.
You can enter the superdungeon mid campaign, but they kinda want you to create a full party just for dwelling in that dungeon, it can net you some neat gear, but i found it to not really be worth it, i only went there when i was at the point that i just skipped days to complete chapters anyway.
The Sorta-prequel campaign is literally a another campaign where you play as another group of people. If you beat it you get a chest with stuff for the main campaign after a point.
They are super passable, i don't think any of those come with any classes or anything, Wildcards comes with a new class, some feats and 2ish party members.
>stygian
bad
>underrail
boring, too long
>age of decadence
good concepts, boring execution
>torment tides of numenara
lol
Can you elaborate why AoD is the only good one from the list?
Why would you put Stygian in that image? Underrail is amazing, Decadence is didn't play yet, Numenara is meh. Stygian is fucking garbage.
The only good thing in your pic is underrail and it's bad.
one dlc adds two new companions
one dlc adds some super dungeon but the combat is shit i dont know who would want to do that
one dlc adds a prelude campaign about varnhold
Fair enough, that doesn't sound so bad then
>one dlc adds some super dungeon but the combat is shit i dont know who would want to do that
What makes it shit?
>age of rpgcodex
>good
Yeah me too man i miss the days when i could just play simple fun games and sometimes story games
now everything is a literal movie and zoomertards call the best games on the ps2 movies
oh well back to playing indies and maybe some jrpgs again someday if i get a ps4
Why do fantasy crpgs tend towards having group based combat? Is it the influence of DnD and wizardry?
im saying the general combat of the game is shit
Indieshit is really all that does it for me now other than nostalgia games. I really enjoyed Stick of Truth, that was the exception.
UnderRail is the only good one out of these. Maybe AoD too, it just wasn't my cup of tea. Torment was ass, just like Stygian.
I am looking forward to Wrath of the Righteous though.
The entire crpg genre spawned as an attempt to emulate tabletop roleplaying so yes, it's the influence of DnD
I defintely going to get Baldurs Gate 3. The footage reminds me of old Bioware games. I like that.
Some modder will have to fix the orcs face though asap.
How do i get trough age of decadence as a fighter build?
I swear to god it's fucking impossible to fight groups, i keep getting filtered in the first town missions.
