It's pretty much on patch 0.9, the next update will be 1.0 with full release so you won't be missing out on much playing it now, just get into the grove and start farming those runs, since this is a rogue-lite and has tons of content

If you like great characterization along with good action gaming, this is for you. The characters are where the game really shines. If you want better gameplay, you should pick up Dead Cells instead.

I honestly think this is the first and best rogue-lite story made so far. For other rogue-lites story is flavor, for this one it keeps you going.
Every new runs has someone saying something new, has the story progress, has the character develop, has some kind of new interaction with you even if the gameplay implication is still the same (like encountering the same boss, NPC in a run etc)
The story itself is not mindblowing mind you, it's standard Supergiant stuff, so it's decent

You're definitely right in that it's the first considering how in-your-face it is - there are no other lites with the story in your face, but I gotta cast my two cents and say games like Risk of Rain, or Dead Cells, etc. have really fucking good stories. It's just, as you say, they're in the background in RoR's case, or they're not center stage in DC's case.

I was losing hope in supergiant after Transistor and Pyre were just flashes in the pan compared to Bastion but Hades is actually good enough that I forgive them. I've spent so many hours playing it myself or watching a friend stream it.

Yeah, it's fun. Lots of build variations, great music and neat character interactions to give small breaks in between the action.

Bought Synthetik because "it's like BOI" and Sseth memes but honestly it's not clicking with me, maybe i'll try a bit more.

It's VERY good in it's current state, if you're curious I'd say go for it because it's on sale. 1.0 is the next patch so it's not TOO far away but there is enough content here that you aren't going to exhaust it before then even if you try.

I'm pretty curious how they'll retain the gameplay loop in a meaningful way once the ending has been implemented. Would be weird if the credits roll and the game is completely done after someone beats it on their fifth attempt.

nah it's v0.31726 and the game is excellent

Absolutely, and don't get me wrong the story and lore of those two is far more interesting than Hades', but just the presentation and the characters are a lot more entertaining in general
