I understand why Valve would think Half Life 3/Episode 3 couldn't possibly live up to expectations or feel genuinely innovative like 2 or 1 did at the times they released, but Left 4 Dead 3 just needs a few fun new mechanics, some cleverly written characters, and some fun maps and it would sell like fucking crazy.
They apparently cancelled an "open world" one, but I could see that being really cool if it was effectively the entire campaign continuous, like one giant movie being filmed started to finish continuously.
