vidya is filled with delusional faggots who cant make movies or actual art

They don't.

games can't be art

Then why do game journos keep trying to say they do?

They aren't even real journalists, why are you listening to them?

Most intrinsically are, but not in the way faggots who push for it want it to be. Faggots push it to further dilute the purpose of art without understanding anything beyond muh feelings.

gamu?

so the game journals and some devs can be proud of themself

Code Vein

They don't need to be. They already are.

Games can be an art piece or a product, the two often overlap. To be good art video games need to take advantage and excel at what the medium has to offer and that is interactivity. By trying to imitate other media like film they become bootleg versions of that other media. Minecraft is infinitely more of an artistic achievement than Naughy Dog's cinematic shit can ever hope to be.

The thing studios like ND don't realize is that gameplay can be art, but their room temp IQs can't grasp that.

It doesn't.

Also this is now a JoJo thread.

For something to be art, it can have no purpose other than itself. Therefore, video games are not art.

This better be bait.

What kind of retarded bullshit is this even supposed to be?

"art" is practically meaningless, but snobs insist that "art" is one thing or another.
My shitty preschool crayon drawing are art.
If movies are art, then shitty summer blockbusters and Marvel trash are art.
People who say "games aren't art" always point to the equivalents of those shitty summer films as if it proves something.
Games have been art for a long time. Again, it's just that the snobs have noticed.

>"art" is practically meaningless
You are part of the problem.

They don't. You can certainly and really should give credit to certain parts that make up games, like the art, music and even the occasional narrative but to say games HAVE to be art is just ludicrous. It's never anything more than people looking for external justification of their hobby when they shouldn't have to be concerned with anyones opinions but their own. Trying to cater to the people who argue it's not art has lead to nothing but games shifting away from what makes them special as they impotently try to emulate other media all so some faggot ass retards can pretend they didn't waste their lives.

Art isn't something "elite" user, it's meaning is pretty vague and everything could potentially be art. That's why there are many genre.

user please. We already know that a literal monkey throwing his feces at a canvas is art, unlike video games.

t. proletarian that is too dumb to understand art

No you post modern marxist retard. Art is the process of articulating the metaphysical into the physical. It's as important as scientific research you kike parasite.

Revenants?

Get fucked with your headcanons user. Art is and always will be a simple expression of the artist, that would be a message to send, or simply expression of creativity.

These people would call Silent Hill a great work of cinema if it were a movie, but will offhandedly dismiss it as a game.
>t. "kike parasite" who wants to give control of "art" to establishment

You don't understand.
What they actually mean is not that video games need to be art. It's that video games need to become just another medium for them to push their political agenda.
