It's not wrong that it's not viable for steam to forever control the entire pc games market (and don't kid yourself, they do, and by a very very large margin, grown even larger with the recent return of ea/origin titles).
I don't think EGS is going to be the one to stop them, their numbers are definitely inflated from the free shit. Not to say no one ever buys things on epic, we know for a fact there's a good number of sales for plenty of titles that were on egs (rdr2/bl3/factorio) but even after it ends, whenever it does, I think they'll hold on to a solid amount of people, just like gog, just like uplay, just like origin. One thing I do think that guy's right about is the days of valve being privately traded are surely not long for this world, we already know there's significant chinese influence/investment in steam what with them making a special chinese client. I'd bet when it reaches a certain point they're pushed to go public.
